Miles Davis miraculous comeback, Mike Stern and Bill Evans, who fronted the comeback band, as well as Richard Bona, Steve Smith, and Mike Mainieri will appear in a live performance with the highest quality sound! ! In 1979, a session was held at Seventh Avenue South in New York, led by Mike Mainieri and Michael Brecker, to explore a new type of acoustic jazz different from existing ones. The sessions became more popular with each passing day, and they even performed in Japan under the name Steps, releasing a live album, and their new acoustic jazz had a huge impact on the jazz scene at the time. Since the members were made up of top-notch musicians who were in high demand, it was difficult to always perform with the same members, and eventually the band changed from a regular band to a unit consisting of Mike and Michael, similar to Steely Dan’s Donald and Walter, and from time to time. We will carry out activities by inviting members who fit our sound. By this time, the group’s name had changed to Steps Ahead. Even so, the group’s activities were suspended in 1986, especially because Michael was so busy, but they revived in 1989 with Mike as the leader. After that, they continued their activities, and Michael also participated in the band as much as possible, but right after the Japan performance in 2004, Michael’s condition suddenly deteriorated and he was forced to be hospitalized. However, Steps Ahead’s schedule for next year has already been filled, and the band has assembled Mike Stern, Bill Evans, Richard Bona, and Steve Smith, who are saddened by Michael’s sick leave but more than make up for it. We now have an attractive lineup. This work is a label original recording of the rare lineup of Steps Ahead’s live performance at the Freeholders Jazz Festival held on June 26, 2005 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, New York. This is a must-listen work that is almost completely recorded with the highest quality sound that has been carefully mastered! ! !
