Description
Spirit, a family hippie psych band active in New York’s Greenwich Village scene since 1967, debuted the following year. This live performance at London’s Rainbow Theatre on March 11, 1978, the final day of Spirit’s activities, was recorded in master quality and soundboard audio. First of all, 1978 was the second line-up, and it was after the release of Spirit’s final 70’s album, “FUTURE GAMES.” The trio played hard rock, but the bluesy and tight performance was impressive, as was the explosive Jimi Hendrix follower. And Randy California, who was also known as a Jimi Hendrix follower, played funky, heavy psychedelic guitar with raging fuzz guitar, allowing you to fully enjoy the joy of trio performance. Disc 2 also includes a live track from Florida that year. Incidentally, Randy also appeared on stage with Purple in 1972 as a substitute for Ritchie Blackmore, proving even then that he was a rare and talented guitarist, making this a must-listen for fans of old American rock.
