Description
Rollins fans will be shocked when a live performance at the famous jazz club “Montmartre” in Copenhagen, which only had a few songs (35 minutes) on the official release, is released. It is a very rare live recording that fills the gap between Rollins’ disappearance in 1969 and the absence of any official recordings until 1972, and the title of the recording, “In Copenhagen 1968”, includes three songs that were broadcast on TV. Rollins is backed by the trio consisting of Kenny Drew, Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen, and Albert Hees, who were the house band at Montmartre. “In Copenhagen 1968” was also a masterpiece, but it only included three songs, and those three songs were edited for the TV broadcast, and the opening Miles classic “Four” was shortened from a total performance of 48 minutes to about 9 minutes. This item released by Mega Disc Label contains 48 minutes of unedited material. Disc 2 includes Coltley’s “Naima” and “Sonny Moon for Two”, and even the classic “When Lights Are Low” at the end, making this a truly remarkable release. The 1968 Montmartre performance, recorded for the first time from the original unedited master. Please listen to Sonny Rollins’ soulful tenor.
