Description
On March 19, 1974, Rosslyn recorded a performance at My Father’s Place with a super high-quality recording that far surpasses previous performances. (The pitch has also been corrected just right.) Just before the recording of “BUNDLES”, a thrilling performance with a variety of trial and error is performed. While many of the performances, such as Hazard Profile from before Holdsworth joined, seem to be quite complete, the point of this performance is that you can listen to the still incomplete Floating World. What is particularly noteworthy is the extraordinary ensemble, and the technical plays in the last jam that could not be heard at the previous performance on the 13th are simply overwhelming, and the threatening ad lib in Holdsworth’s 5-beat, and the rhythm combination of Roy and John from the Nucleus that seems very human are amazing. (Roy’s incredible playing on the 6-string bass is a must-listen.) This is Soft Machine at the very top of Canterbury. Enjoy their unrivaled ensemble.
