Description

This is a collection of 1967 studio recordings that are not included in A Whole New Thing, the first album released in 1995. It has never been credited as an official album and is now out of print, and the original CDs are sometimes traded at high prices, but here it is. The first half of the album features the songs being played properly, but the second half of the album features Cynthia Robinson and other horns trying out different phrases from each song. You can also hear Larry Graham’s singing voice, and although it is a performance of songs that Sly left behind as The Viscaynes, it can be said that it is the sound of Sly & The Family Stone, which was formed in November 1966. There is a slight record needle sound, and it is rumored that the engineer’s voice was added for a later release, which certainly gives you a sense of the recording scene in the 1960s.
