Description

Tony Scaglione, the amazing drummer who worked on WHIPLASH’s “POWER AND PAIN”, a charismatic pure thrash album. Here is a soundboard and spectacular video set of SLAYER, who welcomed him as the phantom second drummer. This work contains four performances of the glorious “REIGN IN BLOOD Tour”. Two full soundboard performances of “February 19, 1987 Corpus Christi Performance / February 28, 1987 Salt Lake City Performance” and a superb audience shot of “January 27, 1987 Toronto Performance / February 9, 1987 Cleveland Performance”. The biggest point of this work is that it is “quality that is not half-baked” and “SLAYER with Scaglione”. It is surprisingly unknown when Scaglione participated, so let’s unravel the schedule at that time. 1986 February 1st – March 10th: North America #1 (3 shows) August 12th: New York show (Release of “REIGN IN BLOOD” on October 7th) October 17th – December 7th: North America #2 (30 shows) Dave Lombardo leaves the band, Tony Scaglione joins 1987 January 22nd – March 10th: North America #3 (24 shows) ←★Here★ Dave Lombardo returns April 10th + 11th: Brooklyn (2 shows) April 17th – May 20th: Europe (26 shows) June 5th: Los Angeles show (December “SOUTH OF HEAVEN” production begins) This is SLAYER in the era of the historic masterpiece “REIGN IN BLOOD”. If we omit the detailed stages, the tour is roughly divided into three legs: “North America #2”, “North America #3” and “Europe”. Of those, Scaglion only played drums at 24 shows in “North America #3”. This work is a three-disc set that completes the soundboard recordings and footage left during that rare period in the highest quality. Now, let’s introduce the live album and footage individually. [DISC 1/2: Full soundboard 2 performances] The main focus of this work is the full soundboard for two performances. It is an “official substitute” for the Scaglion era, which did not leave an official work. First of all, DISC 1 contains the recording of the “February 19 Corpus Christi performance (the 16th performance of North America #3)” which became popular as a gift board, but this work uses the upgrade master that was excavated after that. “Postmortem”, which had a problem with one channel, is also seamlessly beautiful. Even if you ignore the Scaglion era, it is a soundboard album that is a leading candidate for “REIGN IN BLOOD Tour No. 1”. In addition, the soundboard of DISC 2’s “February 28 Salt Lake City Performance (21st performance)” is also the highest peak ever. The recording itself has been known to collectors for a long time, but the sound with hiss noise was not so good, and if the pitch was messed up, “Epidemic” also had a defect. The phrase “better than a bad soundboard” is often used to praise audience recordings, but it was a typical example of a “bad SBD”. However, this work is different. It uses an upgrade master excavated in recent years. There is a (momentary) defect in “At Dawn They Sleep”, so it does not reach the tour king candidate DISC 1, but you can enjoy the full show with a clear sound that has been reborn as if it were a conventional one. Now, let’s check out the full set of “REIGN IN BLOOD Tour” that can be enjoyed with the highest peak soundboard here. Rain in Blood (8 songs, 16 takes) Raining Blood / Reborn (★) / Postmortem (★) / Criminally Insane (★) / Angel Of Death / Epidemic (★) / Altar Of Sacrifice / Jesus Saves Others (4 songs, 7 takes) Show No Mercy: Die By The Sword / Evil Has No Boundaries (★) Hell Awaits: Necrophiliac (★) / At Dawn They Sleep (Salt Lake City only) *Note: The “★” mark indicates a song that cannot be heard in the official “DECADE OF AGGRESSION”. [DISC 3: Two super powerful audience shots] Two full soundboard performances are enough to fill me up, but there are two superb images with “super” marks left during the Scaglion era. This is about half of the show, but it’s an audience shot that can be said to be “If you want to watch the REIGN IN BLOOD tour, this is it!” without mentioning Scaglion. DISC 3 couples the two videos. The first half of DISC 3 is the “January 27 Toronto performance (4th performance)”, a masterpiece video that looks straight ahead at the center of the stage with zero obstructions. The video that zooms in on all the highlights with zero obstructions is amazing, but the sound is also intense. In fact, the best separate recording is synchronized, but I was surprised that this is not inferior to the sound board of DISC 1-2. If this was a full show, there is no doubt that it would have been made into a permanent preservation press. The last second half of DISC 3 is amazing because it is not a leftover …. It is the shocking video with the strongest impact taken at the “February 9 Cleveland performance (13th performance)”. The impact is “super close”. It was shot from the front of the left side of the stage, and Jeff Hanneman’s facial expression, fingertips, and even the guitar strings are super clear and clear. The heads of the front row are also reflected in some places, so it’s not mistaken for a professional shot, but the close-up is a completely professional shot angle. It’s even called the “Hanneman shot” among enthusiasts (of course, although it’s through Jeff, you can enjoy Tom Araya and Kerry King in a pretty close-up. It’s a shame that you can hardly see Scaglion!). Finally, let’s organize the set that can be seen with these two superb shots. Rain in Blood (8 songs, 10 takes) Criminally Insane / Angel Of Death / Epidemic (2 takes) / Altar Of Sacrifice / Jesus Saves / Necrophobic (*: 2 takes) / Reborn / Postmortem Others (4 songs, 5 takes) Show No Mercy: Black Magic (*) Haunting the Chapel: Chemical Warfare (*: 2 takes) / Captor Of Sin (*) Hell Awaits: Hell Awaits (*) *Note: * marks are songs that cannot be heard on the soundboard sound source of DISC 1-2. WHIPLASH’s “POWER AND PAIN” was able to become a charismatic album that embodied the charm of thrash because of Scaglion. This work is a super-decisive board that serves as the “official substitute” of SLAYER, who gets his assault drumming and explodes. And, in fact, even without Scaglion, this is a three-disc set that is also the highest peak set of the “REIGN IN BLOOD Tour”. The phantom drummer: SLAYER’s definitive set with Tony Scaglion. Two full soundboard performances of “February 19, 1987 Corpus Christi performance / February 28, 1987 Salt Lake City performance” and a superb audience shot of “January 27, 1987 Toronto performance / February 9, 1987 Cleveland performance”. The full SBD for the two performances is the highest peak version that has been meticulously mastered with the upgrade master, and is the official substitute for the Scaglion era. The two AUD video performances are a superb view with zero obstructions (Toronto) and a super close-up video of professional shots (Cleveland). Both are the best sets that will be the highest peak of the “REIGN IN BLOOD Tour” even if you remove the preciousness of Scaglion.
