Description
SLAYER, the king of thrash, has finally entered the countdown to the final performance of “FAREWELL TOUR”. Their latest live album is now available. What is engraved in this work is “November 12, 2019 Columbus Performance”. It is the best audience recording that contains the whole story. Their “FAREWELL TOUR” started in May last year and will end with the Inglewood performance at the end of this month (November 30th). Although the manager has released a statement saying, “This does not mean the end of the band,” what will happen after that is unclear. There is no doubt that we are about to reach a major milestone. SLAYER is currently in the middle of its final leg, but first let’s check the position of this work from the 2019 schedule.・March 7th-23rd: Oceania/Asia (7 performances) ・May 2nd-25th: North America #1 (16 performances) ・June 4th-August 3rd: Europe/Canada (24 performances)・September 14th – October 11th: North America #2/South America (8 performances)《”THE REPENTLESS KILLOGY” released on November 8th》 ・November 2nd – 30th: North America #3 (19 performances) ←★ Here★ This is SLAYER’s 2019. In March, he came to Japan for “DOWNLOAD JAPAN”, but after that he toured North America, Europe, and South America. The Columbus performance of this work was the 8th concert in the middle of the final leg “North America #3”. This work that recorded such a show is truly the best audience recording. Anyway, it’s thick-boned and meaty. The opening song “Delusions of Saviour” is played as a studio recording at the venue, but at that point it is the best thing to do. And I was even more surprised when “Repentless” started running. There is no sense of distance at all, and a super clear and close-up fierce slash is thrown right in front of you! The harsh guitar riff is clear right down to the edge, and the bass drum is clear right up to the peak of its attack… Moreover, it is both powerful and beautiful. Despite being exposed to the thrash king’s intense ensemble without any sense of distance, there is no distortion at the peak, no chatter at all. It is truly an ironclad sense of stability. It is said that among heavy metal, thrash and death are difficult to record for an audience, but it is impossible to capture it so perfectly… There is a reason why we were able to accomplish this. This work was created by the modern master “ironchef”. Contrary to their name, they are usually known for their classic rock-oriented tapers such as U2, Roger Waters, and THE WHO, but they were amazing even when they recorded metal music. True to its signage, he shows off his true craftsmanship as a chef. Furthermore, the lack of audience noise is also strange. Of course, the scene was very exciting and a huge wave of cheers was rolling, but it was strangely far away. It’s a big spectacle, but the balance is such that you get a bird’s-eye view of it all. It is a superb recording that does not seem like an audience at all. The show drawn with such a sound is a greatest hits that can be called “SLAYER’s final answer”. The official live album “THE REPENTLESS KILLOGY” was also just released the other day, but the songs contained in that work were from 2017, before “FAREWELL TOUR”. The basics are similar, but the sets are different, so let’s compare and organize them here. 1983-1990 (13 songs)・SHOW NO MERCY: Show No Mercy (★)・HAUNTING THE CHAPEL;Chemical Warfare・HELL AWAITS: Hell Awaits・REIGN IN BLOOD: Postmortem/Jesus Saves (★)/Raining Blood/Angel Of Death・SOUTH OF HEAVEN: Mandatory Suicide/South Of Heaven・SEASONS IN THE ABYSS: War Ensemble/Born of Fire/Seasons In The Abyss/Dead Skin Mask 1994-2015 (7 songs)・DIABOLUS IN MUSICA: Stain of Mind (★)・GOD HATES US ALL: Disciple/Payback (★)・WORLD PAINTED BLOOD: World Painted Blood (★)/Hate Worldwide・REPENTLESS:Repentless/When The Stillness Comes *Note: “★” marks “THE REPENTLESS” Songs you can’t listen to on “KILLOGY”… and this is what it looks like. Focusing on the two great albums “REIGN IN BLOOD” and “SEASONS IN THE ABYSS”, the album is evenly selected from all careers. As mentioned above, we are currently in the final leg of the countdown until the final performance. It’s a set that screams “This is SLAYER!”, and the performance is filled with fierce thrash metal that leaves no regrets in the performance. Emperor SLAYER went out of his way to start the countdown by releasing a video called “THE END IS NEAR.” It is a superb live album that (probably) will not be surpassed even in its final leg.
