Description

The reunion world tour that Simon & Garfunkel realized in the early 1980s had PA out soundboards leaked from each decade, and the memory of “OSAKA STADIUM 1982 SOUNDBOARD”, which is worthy of being called the Yokozuna album of 1982, is still fresh, but the following year, a soundboard that captured the stage in Vancouver in August with excellent sound quality had been circulating for some time. This was first released under the title “LISTEN TO THE SILENCE”, and since it was originally a PA soundboard with very good sound quality, it has been reissued by other labels several times since then. Furthermore, it is now even being released on Gray Zone CD. However, the situation of being wasted and promiscuity has become a problem, and it is probably a soundboard that is surprisingly unfamiliar to enthusiasts. On the contrary, it is not surprising to think that “soundboards were leaked in 1983 as well?” This version is a enthusiast who restored such an overlooked 1983 soundboard on his own and made it available on the Internet. Although it was originally a very clear sound board, it has really mitigated the roughness of the PA out. First of all, it has eliminated the hum noise that was prominent in the quiet parts, which is a clear difference from the previously released items. This is because S&G not only plays songs such as “Scarborough Fair” and “Old Friends / Bookends” with quiet arrangements, but also has many quiet parts such as “El Condor Pasa (If I Could)” and the beginning of “The Sounds of Silence”. In such a situation, the presence of the hum noise is a disappointment, and it was also the reason why the release has stopped recently despite the sound board having a clear sound quality. Even if this problem has already been solved, it has already shown a finish worthy of CD, but what is even more noteworthy is that the sound quality itself is clearer. The appeal of this sound source was that the sound quality was easy to hear considering that it was originally a PA sound board, but this time it has been reborn with a clearer and more expansive sound quality, and the PA out recording, which was difficult for beginners to get into even though it was a sound board, is much easier to hear. If it is in such a clear state, it is definitely finished in a wonderful state that even beginners who are not familiar with PA out can enjoy it with ease. Until now, the 1983 world tour has been overlooked because the items themselves were overwhelmingly fewer than the previous year’s Japan performance, but in fact, it has shown a big change since the Japan performance. First of all, the band members have changed completely, even Steve Gadd has left, and instead Dave Weckl has been hired and he has been playing synth drums. Furthermore, saxophonist Mark Rivera will continue to be his right-hand man after joining Billy Joel’s tour a few months later, but he has already demonstrated his talent at this point, and has contributed to making the sound more contemporary than the previous year. Since the ’83 band was coming together so well, I can’t help but think that if they could have continued as S&G, they would have been able to continue as S&G. As proof of this, the ’83 tour included two new songs, “Cars are Cars” and “Think Too Much,” which Paul would later release as a solo artist, and it was clear that S&G was still in the early stages of making an album. In particular, in “Think Too Much,” the band and Paul were not able to mesh at the beginning of the new song, and he couldn’t help but laugh… This incident was captured in a clear and realistic way, and it was really fun to listen to. At the beginning of the finale, “The Sounds of Silence,” Paul plays “Anji,” which reminds us of the old S&G live performances, and it’s sure to make you gasp when you hear it. You can enjoy the tear-jerking moments for enthusiasts with the clearest sound quality. And the R&B cover “One Summer Night” was performed in the second half of the live performance, which was not performed the previous year. Here, Art sings beautifully with his velvet voice, which is his forte, and above all, the excitement is incredible. In this way, the sound board, which captured the 1983 S&G stage, which has evolved greatly since the previous year’s performance in Japan, with excellent sound quality throughout, has been reborn as an even easier-to-listen-to sound board! Remastering Memo Although the sound quality was originally high, the bass range where the bass drum reverberates has been slightly suppressed to improve the separation of the entire performance.
