Description

SCORPIONS came to Japan in 1996 for the last time in the 90s, bringing with them the masterpiece of sorrow, “PURE INSTINCT”. This is an original recording that will let you experience the scene at its finest. This work is recorded at the “August 30, 1996: Nagoya Welfare Pension Hall” performance. This is a powerful audience recording. When you think of the 90s, the Scorpions have an image of spreading their hands in many areas, such as electronic, orchestral collaboration, and acoustic, but “PURE INSTINCT” was just before that. It was a masterpiece that shook the heart with its melancholy melody while sticking to the main line of hard rock. First, let’s look back at the schedule at that time and check the position of the show. 1996 May 1st: Kuala Lumpur performance {“PURE INSTINCT” released on May 21st} ・June 5th – August 17th: North America (50 performances) ・August 24th: Bremerhaven performance ・August 30th – September 11th: Asia (5 performances) ←★Here★ ・October 5th – December 3rd: Europe #1 (30 performances) 1997 May 11th: Steinheim performance ・June 24th – July 19th: Europe #2 (15 performances) ・October 2nd – 11th: Germany (3 performances) ・November 8th – 23rd: Latin America (8 performances) 1998 June 18th – July 1st: Europe #3 (4 performances) ・October 3rd: Appearance at Rock for Germany This is SCORPIONS from 1996 to 1998. There were no live shows in 1995, and James Kottak joined in early 1996. It was a schedule that took two full years to travel the world. The Japan tour was realized in the first half. It was the “Asian” leg, which also included Korea and Malaysia. However, their official tour schedule only listed two shows in Tokyo, and the Nagoya performance in this work was also a show that was officially forgotten. This work, recorded at such a scene, is a powerful audience that wakes up to a strong core. This is the latest in the Nagoya-based DAT Master series, which has been releasing masterpieces recently, and SCORPIONS’ joint visit to Japan with Michael Schenker, “NAGOYA 1994: DAT MASTER (Shades 1432),” is still fresh in my memory, but this work is so powerful that it cannot be compared to the somewhat thin line “NAGOYA 1994”. The two guitars and the rhythm section rush forward in a bunch, and you can hardly feel the distance. On the other hand, although Klaus’ vocals seem to be one step back, his clear voice quality allows the lyrics to be conveyed clearly. In fact, there are some scenes at the beginning that seem to be over-peaked because of the excessive power, but this also improves from the third song, “Oh Girl (I Wanna Be With You)” (perhaps the on-site engineer realized that he was overdoing it). After that, you can enjoy the powerful yet beautiful sound world. This is the greatest hits that feature the precious “PURE INSTINCT” numbers, depicted with such a thick and powerful sound. Speaking of live works from the 90s, the official works “BERLIN 1991” and “LIVE BITES” are famous, so let’s organize them by comparing them. 70s/80s・Love Drive: Loving You Sunday Morning (★)/Coast to Coast (★)/Holiday (★)・Forbidden Tattoo: Bad Boys Running Wild/Big City Nights/Still Loving You (★)/Rock You Like a Hurricane・Other: The Zoo/Blackout/Kojo No Tsuki (★)90s・Crazy World: Tease Me Please Me/Hit Between the Eyes/Wind of Change・Face the Heat: Alien Nation・Pure Instinct: Oh Girl (I Wanna Be With You) (★)/You and I (★)/Wild Child (★)/Stone in My Shoe (★)*Note: The “★” marks are songs that could not be heard even on the official albums “BERLIN 1991” and “LIVE BITES”. …And so it is. The songs from “LOVEDRIVE” and “Kojo no Tsuki” are also delicious, but the masterpieces from “PURE INSTINCT” are still precious. For those who love the Scorpion of Melancholy, it was a blissful masterpiece, but shortly after that, SCORPIONS started to compete with other styles, so only the ballad “You and I” was taken over. “Oh Girl (I Wanna Be With You)”, “Wild Child”, and “Stone in My Shoe” became limited songs only for this tour. This work allows you to enjoy such precious songs live in Japan with a sound that combines beauty and power. After this visit to Japan, SCORPIONS tried other musical forms, and the number of opportunities to visit Japan decreased dramatically. It was an eight-year hiatus until the next opportunity. Looking back now, the 1996 Japan tour may have been their last honeymoon with Japan. This work is an original recording that allows you to fully experience the scene of such a turning point with a powerful sound. A powerful audience recording from the performance at the Nagoya Welfare Pension Hall on August 30, 1996. Although “NAGOYA 1994: DAT MASTER” is still fresh in my memory, this work is incomparably more powerful. The two guitars and the rhythm section rush forward in a bunch, making it almost impossible to feel the distance. In fact, there are some scenes at the beginning that seem to over-peak because they are so powerful, but this also improves from around the third song, “Oh Girl (I Wanna Be With You)”. After that, you can enjoy the beautiful sound world, even though it is powerful. This is a newly excavated board where you can enjoy precious “PURE INSTINCT” numbers such as “Oh Girl (I Wanna Be With You)”, “Wild Child”, and “Stone in My Shoe”.
