Description
Santana’s 1974 album, “Lotus,” showcased the power of a truly powerful live band to the world. This newly discovered soundboard album, a sequel to the album, is now available. This work features a stereo soundboard recording of the “September 15, 1974 Fresno Performance.” This was a busy period, with a flurry of releases, including not only “Lotus” but also Carlos Santana’s solo albums, “Greatest Hits,” “Borboletta,” and more. Even slight differences in timing meant different live performances. To better understand the situation at the time, let’s first take a look at the band’s schedule and outline their activities at the time. 1973 January 18th – April 8th / June 21st: North America #1 (48 performances) June 27th – July 11th: Japan #1 (12 performances) ← *Official LOTUS and others July 15th – 19th: Asia (3 performances) {“LOVE DEVOTION SURRENDER” released on July 20th} July 23rd – August 8th: Oceania (12 performances) August 12th – October 21st: North America #2 / Central and South America (28 performances) {“WELCOME” released on November 9th} November 13th – December 12th: Europe (27 performances) December 31st: San Francisco performances 1974 January 14th: Ithaca performances {May “LOTUS” / July “GREATEST “HITS” release – July 13th – October 28th: North America #3 (62 performances) ←★here★《October “BORBOLETTA” release》 – November 16th: Honolulu performance – November 23rd – December 14th: Japan #2 (16 performances) This newly excavated soundboard represents the pinnacle of direct-to-table soundboards. This is the 1973/1974 SANTANA. 1974 can be broadly divided into “North America #3” before the release of “BORBOLETTA” and “Japan #2” after its release, with this Fresno performance being the 27th performance of the former. This work, recorded at such a show, is a newly excavated soundboard that is currently causing a sensation in the collector’s world. It was unearthed from the belongings of a certain core collector, but what is striking is the quality. Simply put, it is a “top-class direct-to-table mixboard,” and the extremely powerful live performance blows out of the speakers completely unprocessed. The cheers between songs are recorded only in distant ripples, so the sense of a concert experience is almost nonexistent. Instead, the otherworldly sense of synchronization, where the entire body is perfectly in sync with the live performance, is astounding. And because the live performance is led by SANTANA in their prime, it’s more than just incredible. Every note of each instrument stands out clearly, and the eight-person band delivers a fierce performance simultaneously, never letting their individual notes blend together. The ensemble, which evolves in response to each individual’s performance, is like a tapestry of sound. Rather than simply listening to it, you feel as if your entire body is woven into it. This intense live album, a sequel to Lotus, unfolds on such a transcendent soundboard, creating a show that conveys the band’s potential, as seen on the renowned album “LOTUS,” yet with a completely different set. Let’s summarize the contents here. Heavenly Guardian, Black Magic Woman-Gypsy Queen, Oye Como Va, Incident At Nashabur, Samba Pa Ti, Others: Immortal Butterfly: Mirage (★), Give And Take (★), Others: Medley [Going Home, A-1 Funk, Every Step Of The Way], Just In Time To See The Sun (★), Bambele (★), Soul Sacrifice (★). *Note: * indicates songs not on the classic “Lotus” album. …And so on. While the opening medley and core “Abraxas” numbers are reminiscent of “Lotus,” the repertoire that rolls in from the middle onward is completely different. New songs from the upcoming “Borboletta” album are also included, making this truly a “sequel to a traditional live album.” This is a newly discovered, powerful live album that will blow your mind with the band’s potential, reminiscent of that masterpiece, with a direct-from-the-board sound. Who would have thought that such a soundboard had been sleeping undiscovered for half a century? This shocking new discovery will leave you in awe of the depths of the rock archive. This stereo soundboard recording of the “September 15, 1974 Fresno Performance” was unearthed from the belongings of a core collector, and its quality is of the highest order, directly connected to the mixing desk. Live performances reminiscent of “LOTUS” blast out of the speakers completely unprocessed, while a diverse repertoire can also be enjoyed. This newly discovered live album will shock the world.
