RUSH Japan Tour will only be held once in history. The highest quality recording is an unexpected upgrade! RUSH recently finished the “R40: LIVE 40TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR” which was announced as “the last large-scale tour”. In the end, it seems that they only visited Japan in 1984 for the “GRACE UNDER PRESSURE JAPAN TOUR”. Not only is it known to have the highest sound quality of its only Japan tour, but it is also praised as “one of the best of 1984” among live performances around the world. “Performance”. In fact, it boasted a wonderful clear sound, but recently a master that far surpasses the previous ones has appeared on the internet, and enthusiasts all over the world are in an uproar. That’s what this work is! Let’s start talking about how valuable this Osaka recording is. First, let’s start with the dates of the only Japanese performance… November 16, 1984: Aichi Seto City Cultural Center [no recording] November 18, 1984: Fukuoka Sun Palace [no recording] November 20, 1984: Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium [1 type] / November 21, 1984: Nippon Budokan [6 types] As you can see, in their 40-year history, RUSH has only performed live in Japan four times, but among them, there are six types of performances at Budokan. Records have been confirmed, but only one type of recording has been found in Osaka, and none in Aichi and Fukuoka. Among them, the Osaka performance is said to be the “best sound”, and many titles such as “ANOTHER WASTELAND” and “FOUR NIGHTS IN JUDO ARENA” have been released. Among them, “MADE IN JAPAN” has a younger generation, and its sound was praised by enthusiasts all over the world as the “definitive album of 1984”. When I checked the sound source that recently appeared on the internet, it was the same recording as the previous one. but! The sound is completely different, and even the definitive album “MADE IN JAPAN” can’t compare! From the time of the previous release, the musical sound had a solid core like a sound board and the outline was clearly recognizable, but the clarity of this work is even higher than that, and it feels as if it is directly flowing into your ears. . Although there is a sense of space in the Osaka Prefectural Gymnasium, which holds about 6,000 people, it feels like the sound itself hits you first, and then the reverberation spreads out slightly. One of the reasons behind this clarity is the audience in Osaka, who quietly confront RUSH. At performances in other countries, it is common for RUSH to be filled with enthusiasm, loud cheers, and loud choruses, but here in Osaka, there was a tremendous sense of urgency as they watched RUSH’s every move for the first time. Of course, if encouraged, thousands of handclaps will spread smoothly like a carpet, but while the sense of scale is firmly conveyed, the concentration on the musical tone is never interrupted. Maybe the members of RUSH, who are not familiar with Japan, may have felt uneasy, but as someone who listened to the recordings like this, I would like to say, “Osaka, GJ!” RUSH breaking through such admirable silence is also wonderful. The Japan performance is the final edition of the “GRACE UNDER PRESSURE TOUR” that started in May 1984. As they have been touring extensively for half a year, their performances are thoroughly mastered, and you can truly hear an impregnable ensemble that does not leak any water. In Japan, it seems that laser beams and 3D glasses, which were the main attraction at the time, could not be used, but with a performance like this, there was no need for it… Or maybe it was because they were not available that the performance was full of concentration. No. “Red Barchetta” shows this impregnable quality in an unexpected way. Like the previously released “MADE IN JAPAN”, there were two gaps in this master, but they were compensated for with the previously released “GRACE UNDER PRESSURE IN BUDOKAN” from the Budokan performance. That part is a moment at the beginning “0:02” and 25 seconds from “3:21-3:46”. The Budokan performance also has a wonderful sound, but the difference in sound quality from the main sound source, which has been upgraded with Japan’s highest sound quality, is not “not noticeable”. However, the performance was connected so smoothly that it was hard to believe that it was a separate performance. This is despite the fact that the switching point is during a fast passage of the guitar solo. Originally, this should be a flaw in the recording, but it is a famous scene that shows how concentrated they were when they were in the Far East for the first time, and how perfectly they expected it. “RUSH in Japan” disappears like a phantom in a dream. But it actually existed. Of course, my ultimate wish is to be there, but that day may never come. If you can forget this regret and frustration, you don’t need this work. However, if I can’t forget it anyway, I want to at least take a step or a half step closer to the truth of “RUSH in Japan.” This work is the closest to that truth, and the one that brings you the most clearly.
