Description

The 2015 “R40 LIVE TOUR” was truly RUSH’s last tour, with any future possibilities lost due to the death of Neil Peart. A masterpiece video that allows you to experience the scene is back. This work was filmed at “St. Paul performance on May 12, 2015.” It is a masterpiece audience shot that captures the whole picture. Currently, the official video “R40 LIVE” has become a symbol, but our store has been conducting real-time reports from the beginning of the tour. We have delivered many masterpiece live albums/videos. First, let’s look back at the schedule at the time and organize the collection. ・May 8th “TULSA 2015” ・May 10th: Lincoln performance ・May 12th: St. Paul performance ←★This work★ ・May 14th – June 8th (10 performances) ・June 10th “FIRST NIAGARA CENTER 2015” – June 12th + 14th (2 performances) – June 17th + 18th: Toronto performance ← *Official video – June 21st – July 23rd (13 performances) – June 25th “PHILADELPHIA 2015” – June 27th: Phoenix performance – June 29th: “MADISON SQUARE GARDEN 2015” – August 1st: Inglewood performance – 35 performances in total. It was a large-scale 40th anniversary commemorative project, but it was only held in North America, the main battlefield, rather than a world tour. The St. Paul performance of this work was a concert that was the third performance in the beginning as well. This work, which records such a show, is a masterpiece video that was very popular at the time. It was filmed at an oblique angle from the left side of the stage (Alex Lifeson’s side), and although the animation projected on the curtain at the opening is a little difficult to see, the important live performance is very easy to see (in the middle, the animation is projected on the screen on the side of the stage, (The video is easy to see). Due to the diagonal angle, there are many scenes where three people are shown at once, even when zoomed in. Not only Alex on the left, but also Neil Peart’s miraculous work can be clearly seen from between the drum sets, and Geddy Lee’s picking is perfect. You can get a full view of the stage just by pulling back a little, so it’s perfect for checking on-site production (the pyro is really impressive!). The image quality produced by digital equipment was also the highest at the time. The beams of light falling down were beautiful, and even the metallic luster of the drum kit’s cymbals was vivid. The sound is also full of direct feeling and clarity, as if it were a line recording. The third day live, which was spelled out with such quality, also became a hot topic at the time due to changes in the set. Let’s organize it here by comparing it with the official work “R40 LIVE”. Part 1 (2012 → 1982)・CLOCKWORK ANGELS: The Anarchist/Clockwork Angels (★)/Headlong Flight・SNAKES & ARROWS: Far Cry/The Main Monkey Business・VAPOR TRAILS: One Little Victory (★)・COUNTERPARTS: Animate・ROLL THE BONES: Roll The Bones・GRACE UNDER PRESSURE: Distant Early Warning (★)・SIGNALS: Subdivisions Part 2 (1981→197)・MOVING PICTURES: Tom Sawyer/YYZ・PERMANENT WAVES: The Spirit of Radio /Natural Science/Jacob’s Ladder・HEMISPHERES: Hemispheres Prelude/Cygnus X-1・A FAREWELL TO KINGS: Closer To The Heart/Xanadu・2112:2112 Encore (1975→1974)・CARESS OF STEEL: Lakeside Park・FLY BY NIGHT: Anthem・RUSH: What You’re Doing/Working Man *Note: Songs marked with “★” are not available on “R40 LIVE”. …and it looks like this. This tour commemorates the band’s 40th anniversary, and will go back in reverse order from their final album, “CLOCKWORK ANGELS,” to their debut album, “RUSH.” It is the same as “R40 LIVE”, but the parts of the first part (disc 1) have been replaced, and in this work you can also enjoy “Clockwork Angels”, “One Little Victory” and “Distant Early Warning” which were not performed in the official video. is. Also, this is different from the Tulsa performance on the first day. On the first day, “Clockwork Angels” started, but in the third performance, “The Anarchist”. In the “MOVING PICTURES” part of the second part (disc 2), “Red Barchetta” was switched to “YYZ”, and the “PERMANENT WAVES” part, which had only two songs, “The Spirit Of Radio” and “Jacob’s Ladder”, was changed to ” “Natural Science” has been added, and the number of songs has been increased by three songs. The process of developing the set for the Toronto performance, where the official footage was shot, is fascinating. Unfortunately, there are some parts in this work where the screen freezes (specifically 7 seconds in “Clockwork Angels”, two places at 10 seconds and 15 seconds in “Headlong Flight”, 36 seconds at the beginning of “Xanadu”, The final 30 seconds of “Anthem” (the audio plays without any problems), and the audio ends 2 minutes and 23 seconds earlier than the video, so it’s not perfect. However, the other 98%, 159 minutes in fact, allows you to enjoy 40 years of history with excellent quality. A large-scale production befitting the final tour, and a setlist that summarizes 40 years of history, even though it changes little by little. Above all, the legendary trio bid farewell to each other in a passionate performance. This is a video work that allows you to experience all of this in great quality. Now that we have lost Neil, our feelings for the “last tour” that never came to be grow stronger. A piece that will heal that dryness. Live at Xcel Energy Center, St. Paul, MN.
