Description
RUSH, the male of progressive rock. Even in their long history, a definitive live performance that can be called the polar end is here! This work is a live album recorded on a stereo soundboard at the “May 28, 1979 Frankfurt” performance of the tour accompanying “HEMISPHERES”. Although there are many line recordings on this tour, most of them have sound quality problems or are short. This work is the best one in terms of both length and sound among the many line recordings. This Frankfurt performance is a very famous sound source from long ago, but most of them are based on the 2nd generation, and there was deterioration in “In The Mood” and there were not enough songs. However, in 2007, the 1st generation master was unearthed and released as “FRANKFURT 1979 MASTER (TRIAL-239)”. Not only was there no deterioration, but the song order and pitch were correct, and it was a hot topic that the full show could be heard on an official-class beautiful soundboard. This work is a 2CD set that revives the 1st generation master used in “FRANKFURT 1979 MASTER” with the latest remaster, and is suitable for permanent preservation! It is a super-definitive work that would not be surprising if it was officially released, but the contents are also remarkable in RUSH history. This tour is famous in RUSH history as the “final settlement of the major prog era”. The summary of RUSH, who reached the pinnacle of masterpieceism with the trilogy of “2112”, “A FAREWELL TO KINGS”, and “HEMISPHERES”, is packed into one live show. After all, the set list of about 2 hours is filled with five big songs, including “Cygnus X-1” and “La Villa Strangiato” that are about 10 minutes long, “Xanadu” that is 12 minutes long, and “Hemispheres” and “2112” that are just under 20 minutes long. The two albums, “Cygnus X-1” and “Hemispheres,” are played out at once on an official stereo soundboard… This rich, progressive flavor is no joke! (“Sygnus X-1” and “Something For Nothing” were hardly played on the 1979 European tour, so it’s possible that they are recordings from a different day.) Looking back at the history of RUSH, there is more to it than just having a lot of big songs. The fantasy/SF theme and epicism were the first evolutionary path that RUSH, who started out as a LED ZEPPELIN-style hard rock band, discovered. They pursued that path straight and took it to the limit with “HEMISPHERES” and this tour. After that, they continued to expand their world with various experiments and evolutions, but that was a change of pace because they had “done everything.” In other words, the live performance you can hear in this work is the “first destination” that the band RUSH reached. In fact, this album also features a large number of short songs, including all songs from “A FAREWELL TO KINGS” except “Cinderella Man” and “Madrigal” and all songs from “HEMISPHERES” except “Circumstances”. It is a rich and vast space opera world that you can fully enjoy! The peak and ultimate nature of this work is also reflected in the performance, which is precise yet powerful. The tight and sharp ensemble that follows is also extremely cool, but the dynamic performance of this work is what Rush has had since their debut. Geddy Lee’s shouted vocals that roar ferociously while handling complex musical ideas… this is it! Of course, both Neil Peart and Alex Lifeson are young, and the thick sound with a strong driving feeling approaches as a mass! In particular, the drum solo at the end, which covers all styles… is so amazing that it leaves you speechless. There is no disagreement that “ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE” and “EXIT STAGE LEFT” are super masterpieces beyond question. However, because “TOUR OF THE HEMISPHERES 1978-1979” was such a culmination and ultimate, I wished it had been officially released… This work is the one that will grant that wish. RUSH has undergone many changes and continued to create wonderful music each time. Their vast musical world far exceeds the framework of “prog hard rock”. However, it is also true that I miss them as “prog hard rock heroes”. For those who sympathize with that feeling, this work will be the ultimate live album. The pinnacle of what the young genius trio ran straight through, the extreme north of the genre “prog hard rock”. A super-definitive edition of a live album that is noteworthy in the history of RUSH and rock. Live at Stadthalle, Frankfurt, Germany 28th May 1979 STEREO SBD(UPGRADE) Disc 1(68:38) 1. Intro 2.
