Description
Four years after their comeback, ROXY MUSIC started again in 2005 after a solo career. A masterpiece live album that conveys the scene is now available. This work includes “Liverpool performance on July 11, 2005”. This is a superb audience recording that vacuum-packs the whole story. Reunion ROXY MUSIC was active and on hiatus sporadically between 2001 and 2011. This is a good opportunity, so let’s take a look back at an overview of Bryan Ferry’s activities during the reunion era, along with his solo activities.・2001: RM51 performances ・2002: 69 solo performances ・2003: RM9 performances + 30 solo performances ・2004: 28 solo performances ・2005: RM12 performances ←★Here★ ・2006: RM11 performances + 1 solo performance・2007: 81 solo performances ・2008: 4 solo performances ・2009 and 2010: RM12 performances + 1 solo performance ・2011: RM15 performances + 54 solo performances These are the 11 years of the reunion period. The only large-scale reunion world tour was in 2001, but smaller tours were also held in 2003, 2005-2006, and 2010-2011. The Liverpool performance of this work was the 9th performance of the 2005 version tour, and was also 9 days after that “LIVE 8” appearance. This work recorded at such a show is a neat and beautiful masterpiece. Although it must be an audience recording that absorbed the sound of the hall, the performance sound is clear and has plenty of density and response. It is a type of recording that does not have a sparse sound, but adds thickness and dynamism to the core, and the details that penetrate the center are vivid. The vocals in particular are wonderful, and Ferry’s dandy singing voice has the delicacy of a breathing level, but even when mixed with the female chorus, it doesn’t blend together. Each voice is clearly separated, creating a wonderful ensemble. What is depicted with its beautiful sound is the 2005 version of the full show, which is a little different from the 2001 version. The 2001 version is also included in the official live album “LIVE”, so let’s compare and organize the set.・ROXY MUSIC: Re-Make/Re-Model/Ladytron ・FOR YOUR PLEASURE: In Every Dream Home a Heartache/The Bogus Man (★)/Editions of You/Do the Strand ・STRANDED: Street Life/A Song for Europe・COUNTRY LIFE: Out of the Blue/Prairie Rose (★)・SIREN: Both Ends Burning/Love Is the Drug・FLESH + BLOOD: Oh Yeah/My Only Love・AVALON: Tara・Others: Jealous Guy/Pyjamarama (★)/ Virginia Plain *Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on the official version “LIVE”. …and it looks like this. “The Bogus Man”, “Prairie Rose”, and “Pyjamarama”, which were not played on the 2001 tour, are delicious, although they are a compilation that is similar to “LIVE” in general. “The Bogus Man” is a limited rare song only for this period that was not played on the “2010-2011” tour, and “Prairie Rose” and “Pyjamarama” have almost never been sung by Ferry solo. It is the best song selection live accented with such valuable numbers. And the performance that spells out the set is also wonderful. Ferry has a more subdued flavor than pushing it in a high key, and Andy Mackay and Paul Thompson also exude the greatness of the originators. And of course Phil Manzanera. The guitar work at its best is even exhilarating, and it really pulls the show in this work as well. The 2005 reunion of ROXY MUSIC did not attract as much attention as the shocking 2001, partly because they did not even come to Japan. However, at that scene, a different show was being held in both 2001 and 2010. This work is a masterpiece of a live album that allows you to fully experience the scene with the best sound.
