Description
Rory Gallagher disbanded TASTE and went solo in the early 70s. The super best stereo sound board album is now available. There are four types of live performances included in this work. This is a definitive edition that mainly includes two of the best versions of the standard BBC sound board, as well as two bonus recordings of extremely valuable audience recordings. The biggest point is definitely the BBC session. “BBC SESSIONS” has been released officially, but only one song overlaps with it. Moreover, the quality is top notch. It is completely official quality and transcendent quality. Anyway, let’s introduce each sound source individually. [Disc 1: BBC Soundboard (July 13, 1972)] The first thing that appears is the 1972 BBC appearance. This is a stereo sound board recorded on “July 13th”, about two months after the release of “LIVE IN EUROPE”. It is a classic sound source that has produced many air check boots, but the quality of this work is on a completely different level. It’s a top quality item that you’ll want to line up three or four times. That’s no wonder, this work is digitized directly from the original BBC transcription disc “CN1597/S” itself. Moreover, it is not just a master recording. It was actually owned by a person involved at the time. Of course, it has not been used for broadcasting and is in excellent condition because it has been carefully stored. Because it is such a miraculous master, the digitization process is extremely sophisticated. To put it bluntly, professionals digitize. The cartridges, amplifiers, cables, and other equipment are of high-end professional specifications, and the engineers are also professionals. The result is a glossy playback sound without even a single stylus, which is the fate of analogue playback. Normally, analog recording is digitized and then noise processing is performed, but this work has no noise as the playback sound. The super beautiful sound is vacuum packed as it is. What is depicted with that sound is the splendor that can be said to be “another LIVE IN EUROPE”. Eight songs will be played, but only “Tore Down” was adopted as the official “BBC SESSIONS”. In particular, “Used To Be” and “The Cuckoo” are delicious repertoire that cannot be heard even on “LIVE IN EUROPE”. And above all, the performance. From the get-go, he played with picking harmonics, playing slide, dobro, and acoustic. It was a breakout moment when “LIVE IN EUROPE” marked 9th place on the UK charts, and that momentum has been fully absorbed. [Disc 2: BBC Soundboard (August 12, 1971)] Disc 2 is a take from the 1971 performance. This is the stereo sound board of “July 13th”, about 3 months after the release of the debut work “RORY GALLAGHER”. The quality here is also superb. Like Disc 1, it was professionally digitized from the transcription disc “CN1509/S” kept by the person concerned. I don’t want to repeat the ironclad sound, but the show is even more delicious. Although this was a short broadcast with only 4 songs, it is not included in the official “BBC SESSIONS” at all. Furthermore, the contents are delicious. After all, “Maybe I Will” and “Crest Of A Wave” from “DEUCE”, which cannot be heard on “LIVE IN EUROPE”, are performed, and there is no overlap between the songs and the 1972 recording on Disc 1. In fact, there is a gap of about one year between Disc 1 and this work, but since the members are the same, it does not feel strange to listen to it as a continuous two-disc live album. Of course, the performance was also passionate. If Disc 1 is a fulfilling feeling of breakthrough, then this one brings out the ambition immediately after his solo debut coming out of the speakers. If you listen to Disc 1 in succession, it will surpass “Another LIVE IN EUROPE”. It is a super masterpiece that seems to have been further expanded. [Disc 2: Valuable Bonus Tracks] After the two types of ultra-superior stereo soundboards, two types of bonus tracks for enthusiasts are also included. One is the audience recording of “June 24, 1972 London Performance”. It is a short recording of about 26 minutes (4 songs), but it is a record of when he appeared at the all-night concert held after the screening of the movie at the movie theater “Kings Cross Cinema”. Therefore, the atmosphere is unique, or it feels a little unusual, but the enthusiasm of the performance is comparable to the BBC and “LIVE IN EUROPE”. Although this recording itself is extremely valuable, the contents are also extremely rare and superb recordings. The last one is even more precious. This is an audience recording of “Same Old Story” recorded at the “1970 Düsseldorf performance” which was the final stage of TASTE. Although it is hard to say that this is the best quality, TASTE’s audience recording is valuable in its existence. Although the date is unknown, you can experience the real power of the 1970 TASTE, which is said to have been requested for encore five times on the Isle of Wight. Anyway, the highest peak and ultimate sound in history pulled out from the BBC master record kept by the people involved is overwhelming. It is a super masterpiece that is not only comparable to that historical masterpiece “LIVE IN EUROPE”, but even surpasses it. A two-disc set that transcends the official/unofficial distinction and becomes a cultural heritage of British rock.
