Description

The release of “EUROPEAN TOUR LIVE 1970” is a careful reprint of the masterpiece LP of Rubber Dubber, which was released in real time during the Rolling Stones’ 1970 European tour, and has been very well received and sold out for a long time. It was a big deal that they were able to transfer the LP from 55 years ago onto a single CD, and with an amazingly clean transfer that didn’t even bother with scratch noise. This long-awaited reissue of this timeless masterpiece audience album will be realized this week. Last time, “GRAF ZEPPELIN” thoroughly removed the detailed scratch noise, and the LP itself is difficult to play without scratch noise, so enthusiasts around the world were surprised that they could transfer the Rubber Dubber version to a CD in such a clean state. This time, it is not just a reissue, but a new digital master has been remastered from the master LP transferred at the time of the previous release. As with the previous release, the scratch noise has been pinpoint-removed. Although trace noise can be heard to a certain extent, there is no aggressive noise reduction, so the result is that the freshness is sealed in just like the previous version. (The mono conversion method and EQ processing are different after that.) Even the previous version was so clean, but this time, the new mastering makes it even cleaner and more natural. Of course, without using any unrefined techniques such as suppressing noise with equalization, this time too, the master’s craftsmanship has been realized in an ultra-clear CD. To be honest, even if you play the original LP normally, it is extremely difficult to hear it in such a clear state. In the first place, it is difficult to say that the quality of the Rabadaba record itself is high quality. In addition, the DJ method of surface division was also a difficulty when playing, so the finish that allows you to listen to the masterpiece cleanly on one CD is overwhelming. “EUROPEAN TOUR LIVE 1970” captured the sound image of “Roll Over Beethoven”, a famous European 70s song with a great up-tempo arrangement, with an amazingly close sound image. That’s why the quality of the early LPs, which are prone to crackling sounds, and the surface division that makes it difficult to play straightforwardly were really annoying, no matter how great the album was. Furthermore, as I mentioned at the time of the last release, it is a masterpiece that has been released twice under the VGP label, but even those could not escape the scratch noise, and the sound quality itself has changed from the original LP. Therefore, the finished product of the 2023 version was truly worthy of being called the definitive version, but this time it has been upgraded even further! Even now, the popularity of the Laba Daba LP itself has not diminished at all, and even after 55 years, there is no sign of another sound source being unearthed. There must be many enthusiasts who have been hoping for the reappearance of a magnificent CD version of such an eternal masterpiece. The digital master from the master LP transferred at the time of the last edition has been newly mastered. (The subsequent mono conversion method and EQ processing are different.) As with the last time, the scratch noise has been pinpoint removed. There is a fair amount of trace noise, but no aggressive noise reduction has been applied, so the result is that the freshness of the sound is as good as the previous version. The trace noise at the ends of the analog record is left to a minimum, and the sound engraved on the record is not lost, with mastering that emphasizes the dynamic range of the recording, resulting in a very natural sound that is pleasant to the ears. With this record, you can easily enjoy the precious Labadaba record in the best condition on CD!
