Description

The 1994 tour with the album “VOODOO LOUNGE” has a live broadcast from Miami in November, which is a standard video and sound source, and there are also soundboard recordings at key points such as Giants Stadium and New Orleans, which our shop has also released in the past. Miami in particular can be said to be a representative of 1994, and has gained a firm position similar to Hampton and Atlantic City. However, the live show in December was a period that seemed to be overlooked by enthusiasts around the world because the Miami broadcast was held in November. On the contrary, some people may think that the “VOODOO LOUNGE” tour ended in Miami. There is no doubt that it was a period with a weak impression. The reason why the December period of the 1994 tour was overlooked so much may have been because there were surprisingly few sound sources with good sound quality and there were few items. The most famous performance may be the Syracuse performance on December 8th. This situation has continued for so long that the new sound source we are releasing this time will undoubtedly attract attention for the first time in a long time to the live act in December. The item selected for this release, which will be released by limited press CD, is the Seattle Kingdome performance on December 15th. The Kingdome is a large venue familiar to ZEP fans, but the Stones also produced a masterpiece at the same venue in 1981 (plus a pro shot video and sound board recording were leaked), and the next Kingdome show was held in 1994. There are probably many enthusiasts who don’t even know that, so this will be a noteworthy release in that respect too! The audience recording used in this release has been circulating among traders for some time. In addition to the sound image with a good sense of distance, the echo of the venue that seems to be at the Kingdome is also blended in a moderate way, giving it a mild texture. However, depending on the song, this state escalates to the sound of the venue that blurs the outline of the performance. Regarding this issue, our staff added thorough equalization processing, and it has been reborn into a state with such clarity that it seems as if the outline of the performance has been peeled off. The improvement in clarity is obvious, and if you listen to this release without any prior knowledge, you will be surprised that “I never knew such an easy-to-listen-to sound source was sleeping…”. In any case, the clarity is outstanding compared to the original sound source. However, that is not the only problem. The pitch is very unstable throughout the sound source (for a recording from 1994), which can be a serious stress on listening. This point has also been thoroughly adjusted this time. In addition, in the middle of “Honky Tonk Women”, there is a noise from the sound as if the microphone was about to come off the recorder. This is a problem that cannot be adjusted. And the bass body resonance from a slight cut in the intro of “Jumping Jack Flash” in the encore. I think it is understandable that these issues have not been released until now. That’s why, by equalizing it, we were able to create a CD with a sound source with a sense of stability and clarity that is incomparable to the original sound source, and a state that should be called an upper version! It may certainly be a sound source for enthusiasts. However, the performance on this day was also wonderful. If you think about it, not only was it the end of the 1994 tour, but they also accomplished the big job of broadcasting live in Miami in November. And as Mick said in the MC on this day, it was the last live performance in the US mainland in 1994. If it was a big city like Seattle and a big venue like the Kingdome, there’s no way the Stones wouldn’t be excited. Among them, Mick was in top form, and his intensity was so intense that you would want to call him “the spirit”. If even familiar songs like Joe’s opening “Tumbling Dice” were sung with such splendid strength, you can see how much spirit he was filled with. Mick’s passionate singing in “Rocks Off”, which was a hot topic of discussion on this tour in 1994, was also magnificent. On the other hand, it is rare that “Far Away Eyes”, which has been revived as a live repertoire since November, was also played on this day. Mick said that he was worried about the poor reaction of the audience when he played this song in 1978, and the audience was silent here as well. To tell the truth, thanks to the song’s calming down, the surrounding conversations quieted down and it became easier to listen to at once (laughs). And in the second half of the live, the overall excitement was hot, especially the barrage of “yeah yeah hoo” at the ending of “Brown Sugar” and the sense of realism captured with superb clarity were refreshing! The problems mentioned above have been thoroughly adjusted, and the full picture of the rare performance and sound source that was only known among enthusiasts will finally be revealed with this release. Above all, the surprisingly upper performance will amaze enthusiasts all over the world. And above all, the Stones’ performance, which gives you a lot of enthusiasm throughout the whole performance, is wonderful. To be honest, it’s a great performance!
