Description
The Stones’ 1994 Voodoo Lounge American tour was not only a restart for them after their 1989-90 tour, but above all, due to the development of recording equipment, from the first day of the tour, it was as if they had been wiped out. It was the time when items were created. It may be said that it was a restart of the Stones, which was attracting so much attention from the world, but the set list, which was richer in variety and change than from 1989 to 1990, must have been a factor in producing many items. 25 years have passed since then (what!), and the one that represented America in 1994 was Miami in November, which was broadcast on TV, and the official release of the definitive version last year is still fresh in my memory. In that regard, I can’t help but feel that the audience recording items that flooded the market in 1994 have disappeared, but in order to turn this situation around, the groundbreaking album released two years ago… The item will be the audience album “SEATTLE 1994” which contains the performance on December 15th. Although it first appeared in the December leg with few items in the first place, the press CD, which thoroughly restored the instability caused by cassette recording, was praised as “this is the sound that enthusiasts wanted to hear”. At the time of its Seattle release, it was mentioned as “the most famous December audience recording” at the Syracuse performance a week ago. On this day, the audience recording title “THE SUN, THE MOON & THE STONES” was released in real time, and it was rated as the most “listenable” title among the December items that appeared at the time. In addition, the released HORNY BUNGLE RECORDS was a pseudonym of the TSP label that was all the rage, and it attracted attention in that respect as well. However, the sound quality itself was an audience recording of a decent level, and since TSP had already established the status of releasing titles with high-level sound quality, if they wanted to make a sound source of this quality into a product… It is clear that he used a pseudonym label to avoid risk. Even so, the artwork still retains TSP’s taste, and it is remembered as a title that was highly appreciated by enthusiasts. However, recently a completely different audience recording of the Syracuse performance has appeared on the internet. It is not only audience recording using DAT, but also surprisingly high quality using Schoeps’ high performance microphone. It was clear that “THE SUN, THE MOON & THE STONES” was also recorded by DAT, but the microphone used probably wasn’t very high-performance, as it was a narrow recording with the sound concentrated in the midrange. It was the state. In addition, I could hear that the sound quality had subtly deteriorated due to dubbing from DAT to cassette (a common practice in the days when dubbing from DAT to DAT was not easy). In that respect, this recording is not only the version released directly from DAT on the internet, but also the recording equipment is a high-performance microphone, achieving a clearness on a different level from “THE SUN, THE MOON & THE STONES”. I’m doing it. It seems that “THE SUN ~” is better in terms of the direct feeling of the performance, but other than that, this sound source is overwhelmingly superior. Among them, there is no unnaturalness in this sound source, as if Mick’s vocals had been filtered, which was a big stress when listening to the “THE SUN ~” sound source. On the contrary, his voice itself is captured closely, and I think you will be able to realize how easy it is to listen to it, even more so than on previously released records. The only problem was that the low range, centered on Charlie’s bass drum, tended to be slightly saturated, so we applied equalization for this release to alleviate this problem. And as I felt in Seattle, the Stones’ performance after their successful TV job in Miami was really powerful. Among them, Charlie’s drumming was in great condition on this day, and it was noticeable in the new songs at that time. Among them, in “Love Is Strong” and “I Go Wild”, you will be overwhelmed as his playing becomes more and more intense as the performance progresses. Charlie’s drumming was amazing, although he was still in his 50s. In particular, the fact that the sound of his drums was recorded in a realistic manner further strengthens that impression. Not to be outdone by him, Mick is also in great condition, and perhaps it is the sense of freedom after finishing the Miami broadcast that makes him so. On the other hand, Keith’s poor condition seems interesting. It’s not the guitar or the whole live performance, but the scenes of two songs he sings. After all, Keith was coughing even during “Before They Make Me Run,” and his voice became rough when he started singing the song. It is presumed that he had caught a cold, but when he sang “The Worst” in the same way as it was, it made you feel amazing. Since the Stones’ overall performance stands out, the two songs sung by Keith appear as interesting scenes. And speaking of the biggest factor in the ease of listening to this sound source, the level of the surrounding audience is anyway low. Even “Satisfaction”, which was played in the first half of this tour and is nostalgic now, is in such a situation. This was the level of silence among the new songs at the time that made you think there was no one around (lol). Following that “SEATTLE 1994”, it was released again from the 1994 American tour. This time, a surprising upper version sound source that revamps Syracuse’s best, which was a hidden classic among enthusiasts, is here. With a sound quality that is easier to listen to than the nostalgic “THE SUN, THE MOON & THE STONES”, please enjoy the Stones at their best after Miami to your heart’s content until the fireworks of the finale! (Remastered memo) ★I was concerned about the turbidity of the bass, the texture of the cymbals, and the sparse attack of each instrument, so I adjusted them to make them easier to listen to. ★Brown Sugar and Jumping Jack Flash have different sound quality from other parts, so I adjusted them separately to make them as uniform as possible. ★This is the first high-quality sound source recorded with a Schopes microphone.
