Description
The Manchester performance after the 2018 “NO FILTER” tour and Coventry will also be released at the same time. The performance on this day was great. The fact that the opening was the familiar “Jumping Jack Flash” probably helped, as the performance was flexible from the beginning. In the first place, they gave such a powerful performance in Dublin on the first day of the tour, but after that, although it was basically powerful, it was true that there were some uneven performances in the first half of the show. This is as proven by the items released so far. However, in Manchester, they were in top form from the opening! It is no exaggeration to say that the whole group has regained their live sense. The third song, “Tumbling Dice,” is interesting. The performance continues with the momentum from the opening, but the timing of Mick and the band is out of sync before the interlude. This is a good sense of excess momentum, which is rather heartwarming. Even when watching the video of the day, each person continues to play without being shaken at all, and they are devoted to playing without worrying about mistakes of this magnitude. Following this little happening, the song played was “Shattered”, which made its first appearance on the “NO FILTER” tour. Of course, we can’t expect the speed of the past, but the Stones’ current performance of the 2018 version is unique. If they continue to play at this rate, there is no doubt that they will get better. They were already in good shape from the opening, and even though they played “Shattered” early in the show, the Stones were in full throttle even without waiting for the usual “Just Your Fool”. Thanks to this, the original charm of “Let’s Spend The Night Together” has been revived. It was much better than the second song played on the second day in London, and it seems like a repertoire that should be played in this position from now on. “Like A Rolling Stone” was very good in Coventry, but it’s even more powerful here. Thus, the Stones are in top form even in the first half of the show. In Keith Corner, “You Got the Silver” was performed after Coventry, and it was a wonderful performance that suited Keith’s current style. After Dublin, “Sympathy For The Devil” moved to the middle of the show, and the song and the next song “Miss You” were powerful performances every day. As if to back this up, Mick was in top form on this day’s “Miss You”. The development of the familiar Daryl Jones’ bass solo and the improvisational scat at the end was really thrilling. And “Midnight Rambler” had already been performed in Southampton and Coventry, but this day it was the best version since the start of the 2018 tour, and it is no exaggeration to say that it was performed. The main character here is Charlie. In the first half of the performance, Ronnie’s aggressive guitar pulls the performance, but the performance becomes even more heated when Charlie hits the drum roll in the middle. The finishing touch was that Mick started singing “You Gotta Move” ad lib instead of “Come On In My Kitchen” that had been used until then. Naturally, the audience was also very excited, and this is worthy of being called a masterpiece. The audience’s excitement was considerable from the beginning of the show, but the audience recording on this day had almost no harsh parts like Southampton. All the sound sources of the 2018 UK performances released so far are from a taper called “CL”, but the quality is the best ever. As with Coventry, the texture is like a veil, but the recording state with a very on sound image is very excellent. So, when we applied equalization for this release, the veil-like fog was cleared here as well, and the original powerful sound image was transformed into an upper version with even more clarity. Not only that, but the stereo feeling was improved, and this was the release of the ideal audience recording. Live at Old Trafford, Manchester, UK 5th June 2018 TRULY PERFECT SOUND Disc 1 (64:26) 1.
