Description
Speaking of the Stones’ 1976 European tour, the highlight was the four-night performance in Paris. It has become clear that all days of this series of performances were video shot, and a by-product from it was the “AUX ABATTOIRS” television broadcast. The same program, which has also been broadcast in Japan, is a standard professional shot video from the 1976 European tour. Not only during the video era, but due to its excellent image quality, many items were produced on DVD. A version of the French broadcast version with even better image quality has been in circulation for the past 10 years, but this time we have succeeded in independently obtaining an even higher version. After all, the title “AUX ABATTOIRS” displayed at the opening gives a sense of improvement in image quality. The roughness of the image quality and soft outlines that could not be removed in the previous version have been improved, making it sharper and much easier to see. However, for this DVD release, it was distributed on two discs, and the song order that had been edited at the time of broadcast was restored to the actual song order of the Paris concert. Among them, the parts recorded on the second disc were recorded in a state that was out of tune with the order of the songs in the actual concert, so just by rearranging them, the stress of viewing the songs instantly faded and it became easier to watch. But that’s not all. After the performance of the finale “Street Fighting Man”, a studio take of “Satisfaction” was played as the ending on the broadcast, but here we have supplemented the audience recording from the same day, so it is faithful to what you see on the screen after the performance. There is an advantage that you can also watch this with audio. Considering the documentation, this process is much more accurate. Even so, the image quality has improved, so even though it is a standard video, the coolness of the 1976 Stones is clearly conveyed. In the production of this broadcast, footage from three days other than the 5th was edited and put together, but if you compare the footage from the June 7th stage (for example, “Fool To Cry”), it has a more uplifting feel. I think it’s easy to understand. As for the video on the 6th, the unedited complete video has been leaked for a while, but compared to that, the audience’s cheers were mixed in to convey the realism of the live performance. Sho. This is especially noticeable at the start of Keith’s “Happy”, so please check it out. There are many enthusiasts who remember the blue coat Mick wore at the beginning of the show on the 6th, or the “bullfighting action” between him and Ronnie in “Midnight Rambler” on the 7th. And the appeal of this video is that Mick and Keith sing with one microphone apart at a very high frequency throughout the live performance. Considering that the two of them finally sang with one microphone in the second half of “Dead Flowers” during the current tour, it feels like a world apart. And I think it was really lucky that the very funky Stones performance throughout, the situation was left for posterity in the professional shot video. Although it is the same band composition, it is different from the previous year’s American tour, and it is a live sound that can only be heard this year. It is also a video that makes us keenly aware that Europe in 1976 was a special time, just like Europe in 1973 was. Bonus footage includes interviews with Mick, Keith, and Ronnie. For this part, the French broadcast was used for the documentary scene before the interview began, but the interview with the three people had subtitles and was deliberately transplanted to the Japanese broadcast version, which had an impressive four-split screen. Mick answered that most clearly, Ronnie had a smooth voice that was different from today’s raspy voice (his voice in the 70’s was really charming), and Keith (lol) had a junky vibe. The three of us met. Being able to watch the interview scenes with subtitles is a big plus. This time, the set will not only include a DVD, but also a soundboard album containing the audio of this video. Of course, this is different from simply creating a CD by simply dropping the audio from the video. Not only that, when creating a soundboard album from this video, there are some areas that need to be modified. First up is “Angie.” The audio of the video has a noticeable hum noise that is typical of videos, and the intro was recorded with a slight cut. By replacing this part with a TV monaural sound source from another source that does not lack the intro from the same day, complete recording from the intro was achieved. “Midnight Rambler” had a similar hum problem. Therefore, we also adopted a separate source sound board that does not contain noise. And by supplementing the audience recording not only for “Street Fighting Man” but also after “Brown Sugar”, we have finished it so that it can be heard smoothly according to the flow of the live performance. In this way, it will be released as the strongest set, not only with the perfect upper version video but also with the sound disc that can be enjoyed as a live album. This is a new definitive version of the 1976 live video “AUX ABATTOIRS” that all enthusiasts are familiar with! (Concept overview) ★Arrange high-quality DVDs according to the set list to create a CD/DVD set. ★For the first time, the songs are recorded in order. This is the first soundtrack CD that includes all the songs from the broadcast. ★The high-quality version obtained from an overseas collector is used as the master DVD. Only the interview uses Nippon Broadcasting. (Supplementary note) There was a difference in the sound quality between the first and second broadcasts, and there was a problem that the sound quality changed depending on the song, but this edition has a unified sound quality.
