Description

■A set of previously released titles by decade. ■Comprehensive studio session recordings from 1961 to 1966. There are many studio outtakes and rare tracks from the Stones in the 1960s. This is a 5-disc set that brings together the titles released by decade into one set. This title covers the studio outtakes from 1961 to 1966. A feature of this series is that the recordings are recorded in historical order, not in album order. Disc 1 begins with a performance of LITTLE BOY BLUE AND THE BLUE BOYS, which is said to have been recorded from the end of 1961 to 1962. This is a recording that is said to be one of the Stones’ earliest recordings, and Mick’s youthful yet careful singing is impressive. Although it is a skiffle-style performance that was popular in the UK at the time, there are also songs with rock roll arrangements reminiscent of the 50s, and it is a recording that fully conveys the naivety of the beginning of the Stones’ history. Next, there are recordings from when they were active under the name THE ROLLIN’ STONES, recorded on both October 27, 1962 and March 11, 1963. The performances from this period are still in the realm of oldies, but the difference is clear compared to the performances of Little Blue and Blue Boys mentioned above. They are proper professional performances. It is amazing how much they have improved in such a short period of time. The second half of the album contains studio outtakes from after Andrew Oldham took over management of the band and changed the band’s name to THE ROLLING STONES, which continues to this day. For other song details, please refer to the credits on the jacket. Discs 2 and 3 are characterized by their complete coverage of the Stones’ original songs from January 2, 1964 to the sessions in November of the same year, including recordings of sessions with other artists. For details of the songs included, please refer to the credits on the jacket. Discs 4 and 5 cover studio outtakes from 1965 and 1966. This is a 5-disc set that covers the Stones’ early studio session series, studio sessions from 1961 to 1966.
