Roger Waters/Radio K.A.O.S. Tour 1987 Rehearsals

This work contains rehearsal footage of “RADIO K.A.O.S. TOUR 1987”. There are two types of footage, the first is a band rehearsal in the studio, and the second is a dress rehearsal held the day before the tour. Let’s introduce each one. [August 1987: Studio Rehearsal] The first one is a rehearsal where the band gathered in the studio. Although the exact date is unknown, it was a studio in Worcester in “August 1987”. The first day of the tour was August 14th, at least within two weeks until the first day. The content is a shot of the people involved approaching ferociously. Many rehearsal footage is like watching from afar, but this work approaches each member including Roger… or rather, is “surrounded” by the band. One way there is Roger, the other way there is Andy Fairweather Low, and over there are the female chorus members Katie Kissoon and Doreen Chantaire. Moreover, the close-up is not only amazing, but you can see his hands and expressions. In fact, when you get as close as possible, the screen is filled with only Roger’s sunglasses. Moreover, everyone is aware that the camera is there. Just when you think they are completely ignoring it and concentrating on the performance, Paul Carrack shows off his playfulness, and you can be a part of the rehearsal as a complete “member of the staff”. From that angle, you can see not only the new song from “RADIO K.A.O.S.”, but also FLOYD’s numbers “Not Now John”, “Another Brick In The Wall pt.1 & 2”, and “The Happiest Days Of Our Lives”. Although you can’t see his expression because of the sunglasses, Roger’s seriousness as the on-site director is scary, and yet the camera zooms in super close… it’s a rare and thrilling video. [August 13, 1987: Dress Rehearsal] The second half is the final rehearsal before the first day of the tour the next day. Although it is a rehearsal, it is a “dress rehearsal” where related parties and friends are invited and played as if it were a real performance. This is a so-called “audience shot”-like video, but its closeness is on a different level from ordinary audience shots. In “Pigs” and other songs, the audience is also shown, but if you focus on the band, it is extremely close. It is shot from an angle looking up from close to the stage, and if you zoom in, Mel Collins’s expression and Roger’s hands fill the screen with a close-up. This is also a digest shot that is far from the whole show, but the figure of Jim Ladd, the real DJ who also participated in the tour, is also perfect. Speaking of “RADIO K.A.O.S. TOUR”, even the audience shots of the actual performance are a precious time, but this work is an even more precious rehearsal. This is a masterpiece that allows you to experience the “scenery” and “performance” that only those involved can know.
