Description
“RADIO K.A.O.S.” is a masterpiece by concept album writer Roger Waters. The complete studio album is now available. “RADIO K.A.O.S.” is, of course, Roger’s second solo album, following “The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking.” It was a masterpiece that showed off the concept maker’s true potential, but there are also sections that are somewhat underrated due to the difficult story. There was a reason for that. Originally, the concept for “RADIO K.A.O.S.” was conceived as a much longer story. However, record companies at the time were fixated on “LP size” rather than CD. As a result, the story was significantly cut down and became boring. For example, “Going to Live in L.A.” is an essential song to the story, but it was cut entirely. Therefore, even though they were in England on side A, side B suddenly moved to LA without any explanation. In order to fill in the gaps in the story, Roger wrote a synopsis on the liner, but he was criticized for not being able to fully express it through sound. This work is a reproduction of the “true form” of “RADIO K.A.O.S.” Of course, there have been fan-made albums with similar concepts in the past, but this work is on a different level. After all, it was produced by the team of overseas researchers who produced PINK FLOYD’s masterpiece “FOREVER AND EVER.” In addition to albums, he gathers all kinds of materials and carefully examines the story down to the single word of the lyrics and materials. This is a piece that has been assembled with great care and attention, and has been completed as a perfect piece of music. It is a complete story album of “65:03” which far exceeds the original album which was “41:24”. The main materials are official works. The original CD of “RADIO K.A.O.S.”, various single tracks, “KAOS VIDEO EP”, soundtrack “THE WIND BLOWS”, and “THE BANDED RADIO KAOS”. “THE BANDED RADIO KAOS” was produced for the broadcast station, and is a rare version with Jim Rudd’s narration removed. Of course, these official tracks were not simply rearranged, but “Roger’s original idea” was extracted from various materials and even one track was boldly edited. For example, “Radio Waves” and “Home” are about a minute long, and “Sunset Strip” is a short track, perhaps due to connections. Furthermore, that unusual commitment is thorough down to one of Billy’s lines. As I mentioned earlier as “main materials,” the lines that were missing from the official product were re-produced using software called “SPEECH!”. This is software for the 80’s Commodore 64 computer, and was actually used in the official work “RADIO K.A.O.S.”. We create parts by going back to the actual manufacturing site. I think you can understand that this is a masterpiece of design, but at the end, for the sake of research enthusiasts, I would like to introduce the details of each song. I would appreciate it if you would read it again while listening to the ultimate “RADIO K.A.O.S.”. ●“Get Back To Radio” *New recording Recorded from the 12-inch single “THE TIDE IS TURNING”. ●A fusion of the original CD version of “Radio Waves” and the expanded version of the 12-inch single. The middle section was created from the instrumental verse and alternate ending that were in the extended version. ●Added lines from “VIDEO KAOS” to the original CD version of “Who Needs Information”. ●”Folded Flags” *New recording Recorded from the soundtrack “THE WIND BLOWS”. ●“Me Or Him” and “The Powers That Be” These two songs are almost the same as the original CD. However, the location of the track divisions has changed. ●“Going To Live In LA” *New recording Recorded from the 12-inch single “RADIO WAVES”. ●“The Fish Report With A Beat” (new recording) Recorded from “VIDEO KAOS”. ●This is from the original “Sunset Strip” CD, but the last song is the “THE BANDED RADIO KAOS” version without Jim Rudd’s narration, leading to the next song. ●”Molly’s Song” *New recording A song that was written for the album but has no studio recording left. Contains the live version included in the single “WHO NEEDS INFORMATION”. ●The percussion at the beginning of the “Home” original CD is short, so it is extended in “THE BANDED RADIO KAOS” and Jim Rudd’s narration is added from “VIDEO KAOS”. ●Jim Rudd’s narration from “Four Minutes” and “VIDEO KAOS” has been added. ●“The Tide Is Turning (After Live Aid)” is originally an original CD, but Billy’s new lines by “SPEECH!” have been added to it. ●”Pipes And Drums” *New recording The epilogue includes “Hilda’s Dream” from the soundtrack “THE WIND BLOWS”. However, since “Hilda” is a character from “When the Wind Blows”, the passage “There must be more to life than lucky strikes and some unlucky ones, and folded flags, and pipes, and drums” from “Folded Flags” Quoted. ★The 2017 edition of Roger’s “Radio K.A.O.S.” released by the producer known for Led Zeppelin’s “The Song Remains The Same Expanded” and Pink Floyd’s “Forever & Ever” to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original release. . This is a true must-listen album for fans, using takes of videos, 12-inches, soundtracks, etc., to recreate the true “Radio K.A.O.S.” that Roger was originally aiming for. It’s all super high quality and has a smart finish. This is a highly recommended piece. A variation on the Radio KAOS album that is more true to the original concept than the released version. This is more of what Roger had in mind… (but the record company restricted him to the length of one album) (65:11 ) 1. Get Back To Radio 2. Radio Waves 3. Who Needs Information 4. Folded Flags 5.
