Description
Introducing a title that can be considered a sequel to “The Gunner’s Dream”. The first soundboard from the “The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking” tour that suddenly appeared via the Internet. “The Gunner’s Dream”, which was recorded with official quality sound, was amazing, but the sound on this album is just as good. This work is an official live album of the live performance on March 28th, the third day of the Radio City Music Hall performance in New York, which was held for three consecutive days from the second North American tour in 1985. It is recorded with the same ultra-high sound quality as the raging waves. Speaking of the 1985 New York performance, high-quality line recordings copied from radio broadcasts or broadcast reels are more famous than in the past, but this work is a completely different master from that. Moreover, the sound quality of this board is incomparably better, and when you listen to it, the sound source of the New York performance so far sounds like an audience recording or something. The broadcast sound source has some parts covered by the DJ’s voice, and the cheers of the audience are recorded loudly, but this version is a completely clear line recording that you can listen to from beginning to end. What has become clear with the appearance of this edition is that the broadcast sound source, which was thought to be the complete version of March 28th, is actually the first part of the sound source from the 27th, and the second part and encore are from the 28th. It became clear with the appearance of this take. Therefore, the first part, which corresponds to Disc 1, which can be heard on this edition, is the line recording on the 28th that can be heard for the first time, and the second part of Disc 2, as mentioned above, is a different master from the broadcast sound source, and the sound quality is The quality is incomparably good. For equalization, I lowered the midrange slightly to bring out the contours of each instrument, but since the original sound quality was good anyway, the processing was sufficient to the extent that I couldn’t tell unless I listened closely and compared. Anyway, that’s how good the sound is. The shortcomings of this new master, the loss of 4:16 of The Gunners Dream in the first half, and the loss of about 40 seconds from 6:35 to 0:15 of 4:50AM (Go Fishing) in the second half, are from the broadcast sound source. I patched it without any discomfort and repaired it so that I could listen to it all at once. In addition, all the noise that was seen in the first half of The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking was carefully removed so as not to affect the original sound, and the best version was created. Instead of guitarists Eric Clapton and Tim Renwick who had participated in the 1984 tour, the 1985 tour featured Jay Stapley and Andy Fairweather Rowe, and the group put on a cohesive, high-quality show. I am. For the opening, Welcome To The Machine, which was the 4th song on the previous tour, was moved up, and in the middle of the first part, The Final Cut number was played as a medley, and in the second half, the representative song from “The Wall”, which was popular in America, was played. I have included Nobody Home and Another Brick In The Wall. With the departure of Clapton, a super player with great popularity, the stage has developed like a solo band under Roger’s dictatorship, and the cohesiveness of the performance is even better than last year. . Regarding the broadcast sound source for this performance, a specialized magazine said, “Stapley’s hard work was successful in reproducing all the songs of “The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking” in the second part, and combined with the powerful sound, the band became more cohesive than the previous year. It’s showing. Looking at it in this way, Roger’s solo tour can be said to have been completed in 1985 if you look at it as a whole.” That’s true, and Stapley’s playing, which provides solid support with his technical guitar, is a strange one. He blends well into the performance without being intrusive, and these can be said to be the factors that made the 1985 tour so successful. The New York performance, famous for its only line recording in 1985, was released as a “completely different master,” “the first complete recording on the same day,” and “an official line recording that completely exceeds the previous releases.” It is one of the first in the history of Floyd sound sources. It’s a big deal and a must-listen for fans. Live at Radio City Music Hall, New York City, NY. USA 28th March 1985 STEREO SBD Disc 1(74:15) 1. Welcome To The Machine 2.
