Description

The complete video of the century’s concept live will be released. This work is a seating video shot from the “Quebec performance on November 6, 1987” from the tour accompanying “RADIO K.A.O.S.”. Not only can you witness the entire “RADIO K.A.O.S. tour” which is already valuable, but it is also a definitive title that includes the extremely rare “Another Brick Jam”. Roger Waters has many concept lives, but the “RADIO K.A.O.S. tour” is special among them. Other concept lives are divided into “complete reproduction of the album part” and “greatest hits fun part”, but this tour combines entertainment and story. Because the album is based on the fictional radio station “RADIO K.A.O.S.”, it was possible to naturally mix past hit songs into the story. Here’s a brief synopsis of “RADIO K.A.O.S.”… It’s a story about Jim, the popular D.J. of the radio station “RADIO K.A.O.S.”, and Billy, a boy who is in a vegetative state but has psychic powers. Billy can communicate over radio waves without using his body, and as he communicates with D.J. Jim, his psychic powers become stronger and stronger. The story depicts the threat of nuclear weapons, including the Manhattan Project, an atomic bomb development project during World War II, and politicians of the time, such as President Reagan and Prime Minister Thatcher. By the end, Billy’s psychic powers become strong enough to operate the government’s supercomputer, and he controls nuclear weapons to end the chaos of the world, leading to a grand finale. The live performance also unfolds this story, and all the songs from the album “RADIO K.A.O.S.” are performed. However, it is not just a reproduction of the album, but past hit songs are played in a setting where they are played on the radio. It is a technique reminiscent of the concept album founder “SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND”, and expresses that tradition at the level of a concert. Isn’t this highly polished show unique in Roger’s career? In fact, this work starts with a conversation between the DJ who announces the start of the show and Billy’s machine voice. There are some parts where the screen shakes a little, but the angle looking down from above the front of the stage has zero shadows of the audience. The view of the entire stage is very spacious, and the highlights are captured one by one. Roger himself and each instrument’s solo scenes, as well as the parts sung by the chorus, are not missed, so there is no doubt that it was filmed by a maniac who knows everything about PINK FLOYD and his solo songs. When it comes to this, the production that makes abundant use of D.J. and circular screens comes to life wonderfully. The album “RADIO K.A.O.S.” was also a masterpiece, but it was a bit difficult to understand. However, the animation and news footage that are an extension of “THE WALL” allow you to easily get into the story. Of course, there are plenty of images that are familiar to past stations. The excitement when that “hammer march” is shown on the screen! The sound is also really wonderful. Not only is the clear musical sound that allows you to hear even Roger’s delicate nuances audible, but the vividness of the cheers that can be heard together is amazing. The tour was said to have been a commercial failure, as it was battling with Dave Gillmor’s new PINK FLOYD, but the cheers heard from this work are a huge success that makes such a story seem like a lie. Moreover, while giving a sense of huge scale, it strangely does not interfere with the musical sound. Perhaps because of the position looking down from above, it feels like the musical sound is covered over the cheers. In “Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2”, the DJ just kept repeating “Thank you, thank you” because of the great response, and it was difficult to move forward. As in the album, “The Tide Is Turning” brought a peaceful finale, and Roger raised his guitar high to end the main set. The encore was a festive performance with “Breathe” and “Brain Damage/Eclipse” from “Madness”. Most of the audio and video from this tour ends here, but this work is not over yet. After that, the camera licks the venue, but even though the house lights are on, the standing ovation in the venue does not stop and no one wants to go home. The enthusiasm finally calls the band back and plays the precious “Another Brick Jam”. It is an extremely rare scene, and the way the whole venue sings is overwhelming. This is a must-see! Although a concept album reproduction concert is beautifully completed, it also comes with a sense of pre-established harmony that is obvious ahead. However, the “RADIO K.A.O.S. Tour” is an exception among exceptions, expressing a grand story while also allowing you to fully experience the thrill and fun of a live performance. This work is a valuable live recording that not only allows you to see the greatness with your own eyes, but also allows you to directly feel the raw reactions at the time. In the fall of 2015, a live movie of the century’s grand concept “THE WALL” is about to be released. I’m sure there are many people who can’t contain their excitement, but it is precisely at such times that we would like you to remember the “RADIO K.A.O.S. Tour”, which reached a different level of perfection. Please enjoy this masterpiece video for that purpose. The Forum, Montreal, Quebec, Canada 6th November 1987 AMAZING SHOT Disc 1(81:03) 1.
