Description
This full 1 hour and 50 minute recording of the November 4th live performance in San Diego, part of the North American tour following the release of 1984’s “Camouflage,” is taken from the original audience master recording by taper Marco Mohr, whose work has recently been released and garnered much attention. Recorded from an original master recording owned by the legendary California taper, who was active from the mid-’80s to early ’90s, roughly the same time as Mike Millard, this recording was never traded until recently, when a renowned collector unearthed a number of rare live recordings on high-quality tape. The quality of the recordings is almost on par with the Millard tapes. Incidentally, no one, including Millard, has ever recorded this performance, making this a rare recording never before released in Japan. Among the set, which includes three tracks from the album and 70s and 80s solo and Faces numbers, be sure to check out covers unique to this period, such as Odis’s “Dock of the Bay,” Vera Lynn’s “We’ll Meet Again,” The Boss’s “Hungry Heart,” and Junior Walker’s “Shotgun.” The set immediately followed their eight-date Japan tour, and since the set is almost identical to that, this is a must-listen for fans of that time.
