Description

Robin Trower left PROCOL HARUM and went solo in 1973. This is a soundboard album that lets you experience the very early days with superb sound. This work includes the “August 30, 1973 Atlanta performance.” This is the best soundboard recording. Speaking of 1973, he had just released his solo debut album “TWICE REMOVED FROM YESTERDAY.” First, let’s look back at the schedule at that time and check the show’s position.・January 29th-February 4th: Europe #1 (3 performances) {“TWICE REMOVED FROM YESTERDAY” released in March}・March 2nd-20th: Europe #2 (12 performances)・April 25th-June 9th: UK (35 performances)・June 22nd-29th: Europe #3 (3 performances)・July 22nd-September 3rd: North America #1 (18 performances)←★Here★・October 19th-November 10th: North America #2 (9 performances) This is Robin’s 1973. He toured Europe, mainly in the UK, and four months after the album was released, he also advanced to the North American continent. The Atlanta performance of this work is the concert that corresponds to the 15th performance of “North America #1”. It was a time when 28-year-old Robin, who was eager to conquer the United States while working on the ensemble of the new trio in Europe, exploded. Since he was being marketed as a solo artist, there were many broadcast sound sources at this time. This show was also broadcast on the FM radio station “WRAS” in Atlanta and has been one of the classics for many years. This work updates the highest peak. It is not a copy or remaster of an air check that has already been released, but a pre-broadcast master that was recently excavated before it was put on the airwaves. Usually, when we say “pre-broadcast master”, it is a transcription LP of the broadcast, but this work is more than that. It is an ultimate quality board that was directly digitized from the master reel before the broadcast master. Although it is the original master, it is an edited one with DJ comments, but the quality is amazing. It is no longer natural that it cannot be compared to an air check that has been on the airwaves. There is no scratch noise that is common in master masters only on reel masters. On the other hand, tape masters can be vulnerable to deterioration over time, but in the case of this work, it is a rare exception. There is no twisting or distortion at all, and the glossy sound does not waver even a little from beginning to end. I can’t imagine how they can keep it in such a state for more than 45 years. In our shop, we often digitize the first press LPs of rock masterpieces and introduce them, but this is with the aim of “sound closest to the master tape”. Even when transcribing a broadcast, it is a challenge to get as close to the master as possible through the LP. However, the source of this work is the “master tape” itself. Many masterpieces and famous broadcasts have realized a supreme dimension that was not even considered from the beginning. The show depicted with such an ultimate sound is also wonderful. The set was standard at the time, and it is the best of the masterpieces “TWICE REMOVED FROM YESTERDAY” and “BRIDGE OF SIGHS”. Six of the nine songs from the debut are shown, and half of the second album is sprinkled on it. The essence of the two works is condensed into 10 songs, and the heat and flow unique to the stage runs throughout the entire work. It is a rich early best, and at the same time, it is a scorching hot album that is even more heated. And the original trio is also good. The guitar, said to be the second coming of Jimi Hendrix, explodes throughout the album, while James Dewar’s British voice, reminiscent of Paul Rodgers, is superb. And sitting on the stool is black drummer Reg Isadore. The ensemble is exactly what the three who created “TWICE REMOVED FROM YESTERDAY” and “BRIDGE OF SIGHS” could do. Moreover, it’s the best that they’re playing the masterpieces from “BRIDGE OF SIGHS” before the release. Although they have established the band’s potential to create that masterpiece, they have not yet succeeded. The performance is filled with the momentum of a bold challenger, not a winner, and the hot guitar burns even more intensely. This is not limited to Robin, but rock is more delicious when it is performed with ambition just before the show, rather than a confident show at the peak of its power. Moreover, this work is the enemy territory of America, which British rockers must conquer. This work is packed with such performances. Robin Trower, the guitarist of soul. 1973 was a year of initial impulse and passion that was never repeated in his career. This is a superb soundboard album that revives such a scene from the original reel master. It is a masterpiece that was inevitable, and a supreme live album that cannot be bad. One of the “pinnacles” of British blues rock. Live at Richard’s Niteclub, Atlanta, Georgia, USA 30th August 1973 SBD WRAS-FM Pre-Broadcast Master Reel (51:10) 1. Radio Intro 2. The Fool And Me 3.
