Description
Robert Plant is said to be planning a surprise for ZEP’s 50th anniversary, and his behavior is attracting attention. The contents of the surprise are still in the dark, but his main activity is of course a solo tour. The latest video of such a plant has been decided to be released. This work contains the “Forest Hills performance on June 13, 2018”. It is the best audience shot. First of all, let’s check the position of the show in the 2018 tour schedule to know his recent situation.・February 1st: UK AMERICANA AWARDS・February 9th-March 2nd: North America #1 (13 performances)・March 23rd-April 8th: Australia (9 performances) 《John Breeze participation》・May 26th + 27th: UK (2 performances)・June 8th-29th: North America #2 (14 performances)←★Here★・July 17th-August 1st: Europe (9 performances)・September 8th-23rd: North America #3 (4 performances)・October 26th + 28th: BLUESFEST (2 performances) This is the schedule that has been announced so far. In early spring this year, they toured North America and Australia, but there was a member change there. The drummer was replaced by John Breeze from Dave Smith, and they started a US tour again. The Forest Hills performance in this work is the fourth concert of “North America #2”. The quality of this work, which records such a show, is so wonderful that you forget that it is a photo of the audience. First of all, the positioning is surprising. In fact, I don’t know the exact position! From the angle, I can guess that it was shot from the left side of the stage, and from the height, I think it was probably shot from the stands, but there’s nothing more to it. The screen only shows a close-up of the stage, and nothing else. The scene is “Forest Hills Stadium”, a venue with a capacity of 14,000 people, but even the spectators close to the stage are not visible, so the screen is a spectacular view of “only the stage”, so it’s hard to tell whether it’s a large venue or a club. Moreover, the image quality is also strange. I think it must have been shot from a fairly long distance to remove the audience, but it’s too beautiful for that. Although Plant’s face is not shown in close-up, his wrinkles and flowing blonde hair are still clearly visible, and you can even see the strength of his hands gripping the microphone. And the banjos and double basses surrounding him are clearly visible, down to each individual string. Of course, even with the power of the latest digital equipment, it’s hard to imagine that a long-distance zoom could be this clear… The sound adds to this strange sense of distance. The performance sounds and singing are on full force, with no sense of distance at all. Just like the view, the details are clear, and it is the best sound with an unknown position. That alone would not be strange, but in fact the sense of the scene is also strangely real. The performance sounds without a sense of distance jump in, and the breathing of the seats nearby is also absorbed. The view and music are as close as if they were sitting together on the stage, but the presence of the audience resides only in the cheers and cheers. The music and the audience are separated, as if they were watching a TV broadcast with friends. It is a video work with a strange sense of different space created because the performance sounds and views are so amazing. The show depicted with that quality. This is more wonderful than ever. The first report of the 2018 show was reported in the masterpiece live album “OAKLAND 2018 (Uxbridge 810)”, but a minor change was made three and a half months after that. It’s a shame that “That’s the Way” was dropped, but ZEP numbers such as “The Lemon Song” and “Going To California” have been revived instead. He has come even closer to the royal road of his solo career. He also plays ZEP material such as “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You” and “Gallows Pole”, PAGE・PLANT’s “Please Read the Letter”, and in “Bring It On Home” he plays a large arrangement that mixes “Whole Lotta Love” and the traditional song “Santianna”. These numbers were also heard at “OAKLAND 2018”, but it is still special to experience it through the spectacular view. You can clearly see that Plant is dancing and singing like Tanop is dead. Above all, the quality of the view is so spectacular that it even exudes a sense of mystery. It would be impossible to experience this even in real life… This is a video work that allows you to enjoy such wonderful sights and sounds. Live at Forest Hills Stadium, Forest Hills, NY.
