R+R=NOW, the world-famous super group formed by East Yokozuna Robert Glasper, who represents a new generation in the music world, has finally landed in Japan! From their vivid live performances that left a stronger impression than expected, a 2-disc set is now available that completely records the last day of their long solo performance, which was held on two stages in one day and revealed the whole story of them! ! ! Currently, Robert Glasper, who along with Kamasi Washington is considered to be one of the artists who create the most interesting music today that is not bound by the framework of jazz, has been working on Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy-winning work “To Pimp a Butterfly” and other releases. Donald will be producing Herbie Hancock’s long-awaited new album, as well as saxophonist/keyboardist/vocalist Terrace Martin, who is now a central figure in the Herbie Group, bassist Derrick Hodge, who is also active in Glasper Experiment, and drummer Justin Tyson.・A charismatic modern trappeter/composer/label whose uncle is Harrison, and who has collaborated with everyone from McCoy Tyner to Prince, Mos Def, Thom Yorke, Solange, and is also active on his own. At the end of 2017, R+R=NOW, a true super group recognized by everyone, was formed by owner Christian Scott and DJ, beatboxer, producer, singer, and amazing all-rounder Taylor McFarlin. Incidentally, the group’s name was inspired by Nina Simone’s famous quote. In mid-2018, they released their long-awaited studio album “Collagefully Speaking,” and will begin a full-fledged tour in late June. Initially, they came to Japan to perform at the Tokyo Jazz Festival, mainly to perform at a certain festival, but to their delight, it was decided that they would perform solo for only two days in Osaka prior to Tokyo Jazz.
