Description

Following the highly popular “METAL GOD CHRONICLES”, Rob Halford’s official rare track collection is now available. From phantom solo singles to other versions, unreleased songs, and even co-stars with BLACK SABBATH members, this is a definitive 2-disc set that can be collected on the official soundboard! The theme of the last “METAL GOD CHRONICLES” was HALFORD, but this time it’s more miscellaneous “90’s Rob.” We are reviewing official rare tracks in four main sections: “Solo”, “FIGHT”, “2WO”, and “Session Participation”. Now, let’s introduce each section in detail. [Disc 1: SOLO TRACKS (3 songs)] The first section is “1992 Solo”. These are three songs from Rob’s personal activities, which were created while he was not sure whether he would leave JUDAS PRIEST or remain, despite business troubles. “Light Comes Out Of Black” first appears as the memorable first solo. This is an original version of a famous song that is familiar from HALFORD’s live performances. The four members of PANTERA will be backing the band. Phil Anselmo also participates in the chorus. Actually, it was a collaboration with PANTERA from the composition stage, but it was announced with Rob’s personal credit. In later years, the members of PANTERA complained about it. “Delivering The Goods” Next up for PANTERA is a collaboration with SKID ROW. This is a live performance of PRIEST’s famous songs as a duet with Sebastian Bach. This is a take that was also included in SKID ROW’s EP “B-SIDE OURSELVES”. Bass listed “UNLEASHED IN THE EAST” as his favorite, and this song was selected. “Silent Night” Finally, a truly rare track appears. Rob’s solo single “Silent Night”. This Christmas song was recorded in 1992, the night before FIGHT was formed, and is sung softly by Rob with only a synth in the background. Released for a limited time in 2009, this is a treasure where you can fully enjoy Rob’s singing skills. [Disc 1: FIGHT TRACKS (10 songs)] The following year, in 1993, FIGHT was formed. FIGHT’s rare tracks were cleared out in the 2010 “REMIXED & REAMSTERED” project, but there were still some left. “Christmas Ride” “Rob Halford’s Holiday Greeting” First up is the Christmas single “Christmas Ride” released in 1994. This is a completely different metal single from the solo “Silent Night”, which celebrates Christmas with FIGHT’s heavy-duty feel (the riff of “Nailed To The Gun” also appears momentarily). The coupling track “Rob Halford’s Holiday Greeting” is Rob’s comment. Along with “Silent Night,” this is a masterpiece that became the origin of the later “WINTER SONGS.” “Nailed To The Gun (Bulletproof Mix)” “Vicious (Backstabber Mix)” “Vicious (Clean)” followed by a remix version of the “WAR OF WORDS” number. An additional version was also announced for “MUTATIONS” of the “REMIXED & REAMSTERED” project, but these are 3 tracks that were not included there. The 90’s industrial remix is interesting, and if you combine it with “MUTATIONS” you can complete the remix version from that time. “WAR OF WORDS” has been enjoyed in many versions including original, remastered, and live, but now you can enjoy half of the album songs in the remixed version. Also, “Vicious (Clean)” is a version with the lyrics “fucker! fucker!!” deleted. “Jesus Saves,” “Acid Test,” “Psycho Suicide,” and “Solar Angels (Live In Tokyo)” are four bonus tracks that were only available on the Japanese version. Although it is not very important to Japanese collectors, we have cut out the unusually long silent blanks to make the collection easier to listen to. In addition, “Jesus Saves” is very similar to the “K5 DEMOS” take, but the mix is different, and “Psycho Suicide” is completely different. “Acid Test” is a forgotten song from the “REMIXED & REAMSTERED” series. “The Wizard (BULLRING BRUMMIES)” Disc 1 last is a cover of BLACK SABBATH produced in 1994. It’s not just a cover, but a recording as BULLRING BRUMMIES (meaning like the Birmingham guys) in collaboration with the original Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. Also participating are FIGHT’s Brian Tills, Jimmy Wood, and Scott Weinrich. As of now, this is the only studio take of Rob singing the SABBATH number. [Disc 2: 2WO TRACKS (12 songs)] Disc 2 is 2WO, formed with John Rowley (currently John 5). Speaking of 2WO, only the official work “VOYEURS” is known, but there were also rare tracks that could not be heard there. “THE PRE-REZNOR RECORDINGS (9 songs)” Officially distributed in 2002 during the HALFORD era. This is a demo of “VOYEURS”, but it is a rough mix with an extremely high degree of perfection. The six different mixes of songs from the album “VOYEURS” are interesting, but the unreleased songs “Scream” and “Lucipher” are even more interesting. If “VOYEURS” had been a success, there is no doubt that the B-side of the single would have attracted attention. Furthermore, “Silent Screams” is a song released at HALFORD. I won’t say for sure, but it is very similar to the take on the best album “METAL GOD ESSENTIALS, VOL.1”. “Deep In The Ground (Radio Edit)” and “In My Head” 2WO version includes the above, as well as a promo CD-only edit version and a Japanese version bonus track. It perfectly complements the studio recordings of the foamy band 2WO. [Disc 2: SESSION TRACKS (3 songs)] “Goddamn Devil” “Hex ‘n’ Sex” “Feel Good Hit Of The Summer” The last section is the official session track for completers. This is a take that participated in the recordings of UGLY KID JOE (1992), BRINGS (1993), and QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE (2000). The co-starring track was also in the “solo edition” of Disc 1, but the big difference from that is the backing participation. That unmistakable heroic voice can be heard behind someone else’s singing voice…it’s a valuable track that leaves you with a strange feeling. This is an official treasure collection of 27 songs and approximately 2 hours. Although he left PRIEST in search of new music, he has not yet reached the point where he has announced his return to HALFORD. This is a book that covers all the “90s lobs” that are often overlooked. Although the title complements the regular FIGHT/2WO album, this two-disc set is a perfect sample for those experiencing this era for the first time.
