Description

The long-awaited “LIVE IN JAPAN 2018” has been successfully released, and heavy metal warrior RIOT has returned to Japan. The original recording that recorded the latest stage is now available. This work includes “October 5, 2019: Club Citta Kawasaki Performance”. This is a masterpiece audience recording. This time, there will only be two performances in Kawasaki in Japan. This week, the live albums of both days will be released at the same time, but this work will be the first performance. For a long time, they were a band that was synonymous with Big in Japan, but now that they have changed their name to “RIOT V” overseas, their activities have gradually expanded in scale. First of all, let’s imagine the position of the show in such a recent situation. ●February 1st + 3rd, 2019: 70,000 TONS OF METAL appearance [“LIVE IN JAPAN 2018” released on August 2nd]・August 16th-24th: Europe #1 (9 performances)・October 5th + 6th: Japan (2 performances) ←★Coco★・November 2nd-15th: Europe #2 (13 performances) ●July 16th, 2020: BANG YOUR HEAD!!! Appearance This has been announced so far Schedule for 2019/2020. In 2018, we held a full-fledged tour for the first time in 20 years, and that momentum continues this year as well. Perhaps they have developed a fan base that is no longer tied to their past glory, and they are actively participating in summer European festivals, and a European tour is scheduled for this fall as well. The Japanese performance was held in between, and their first acoustic set has also become a hot topic. This work, which records that first day, is an exquisite audience recording. This is an original recording given to us by the recording artist himself, but the most wonderful thing about it is its powerful core. In fact, the deep bass is not very clear, but that doesn’t mean it’s a blurry sound (at all!). The midrange has a strong core and comes right in front of you, and if you have a good response, the treble can extend well. In fact, the mid and high tones are clear enough, and both the dancing twin leads and Todd Michael Hall’s high notes are very clear. Although only the outline of the bass is unclear, what I don’t want you to misunderstand here is that it is neither “no bass” nor “a crisp sound.” In fact, the deep bass is quite powerful and has a good balance with the bright mids and highs. Of course, the bass is firmly captured, but the feel is more like a “buzzing” sound than a “grinding” one. This is probably a problem with the sound output on site. With such a sound, the acoustic set that will be performed for the first time as mentioned above is also a fresh show. It consists of two major parts, and is suddenly unplugged from the beginning. After that it becomes a regular electric set. The contents are… [Part 1: Acoustic]・Tokyo Rose “ROCK CITY” / Bloodstreets “THUNDERSTEEL” / In Your Eyes “NIGHTBREAKER”・UNLEASH THE FIRE: Land of the Rising Sun / Take Me Back / Until We Meet Again [Part 2: Electric] ●Guy Speranza era (6 songs)・ROCK CITY: Warrior・NARITA: 49er/Road Racin’・FIRE DOWN UNDER: Outlaw/Altar of the King/Swords and Tequila ●Tony Moore era ( 6 songs)・THUNDERSTEEL: Flight of the Warrior/Johnny’s Back/Thundersteel・THE PRIVILEGE OF POWER: On Your Knees/Metal Soldiers/Storming the Gates of Hell ●Mike DiMeo era (2 songs)・NIGHTBREAKER: Destiny/Magic Maker ● Todd Michael Hall era (5 songs), UNLEASH THE FIRE: Bring the Hammer Down/Fall From the Sky, ARMOR OF LIGHT: Victory/Angel’s Thunder, Devil’s Reign/Heart of a Lion… and so on. Masu. The attention-grabbing acoustic set is centered around “UNLEASH THE FIRE,” but includes representative songs from each singer’s era, scattered throughout like a trade show. We have selected mid-tempo songs, and the variety is really rich. Because it’s acoustic, the beauty of the sentimental melody is exposed, and the goodness of the song itself stands out. It reminds us once again that they have written many different types of masterpieces, not just melodic speed metal. Here, the close-fitting sound is a perfect match, the singing voice is at a breathing level, the guitar is at the level of picking nuance, and even the acoustic bass can be clearly heard. Then, when it comes to the second part of the electric song, the usual charm is on full display. In 2018, he came to Japan twice in March and September and performed shows with different concepts, but the electric set of this work also changed significantly. They will perform famous songs that they did not perform during their two visits to Japan last year, such as “Bring the Hammer Down,” “Storming the Gates of Hell,” and “Altar of the King.” In particular, the selections from Mike DiMeo’s era, such as “Destiny”, which he hasn’t played in a while, and “Magic Maker”, which he started this year, are amazing. As with the acoustic set “In Your Eyes,” Todd’s singing voice lets you listen to songs from the DiMeo era with plenty of emotion, and with more ease than DiMeo. He has a voice quality that is on par with Guy and Tony, and his singing is so beautiful that it even feels like “RIOT.” Another memorial is “49er”. Before the performance, he confessed, “40 years ago today (October 5th), “NARITA” was released. In fact, the number of songs itself is less than on the second day, and in that respect I will give it to “KAWASAKI 2019 2ND NIGHT”, which was released at the same time, but it is a special song that more than makes up for it. RIOT loves Japan and has been loved by the Japanese people. A very beautiful acoustic set that was unveiled for the first time, and an electric set that was different from last year. In addition to both, this is a masterpiece live album where you can enjoy the wonderful sound of the 40th anniversary special “49er”.
