Description

Together with Tom Scott, Willie Weeks, Andy Newmark, and Billy Preston, he supported former Beatle George Harrison on his only tour in 1974, and the following year released an album with the Charlie Ford Blues Band, named after his brother, and then made his solo debut. In the 1980s, he was a huge success as a guitarist for the Yellow Jackets and the legendary Miles Davis Band, making him one of the top five guitarists in the L.A. jazz/fusion scene, alongside Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, Jay Graydon, and Michael Landau, a group full of skilled technicians! The four members of the band, Russell Ferrante, Jimmy Haslip, and Ricky Lawson, who would later call themselves “Yellow Jackets,” featured Robben Ford on not only guitar but also vocals. They performed at the most famous venue in L.A., “The Baked Potato,” in October 1976 when they were still active as “The Ricky Lawson Band.” This dreamlike item is the first to be released, featuring an almost complete recording of the superb high-quality stereo sound recorded by a person involved with the event using two microphones!
