Description
Renaissance’s latest performance at “Rothfest” held at the Majestic Theater in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on May 1, 2010, was recorded in full with an ultra-high quality audience recording. Annie Haslam’s performance, which captivates the audience with her undiminished vocals, is wonderful, and the set, which is filled with classical masterpieces from the 70s, is full of great listening points from start to finish. Michael Dunford leads the whole with classical melodies, and the dramatic and delicate ensemble play centered on the tight rhythm section and twin keyboards brings the past masterpieces back to life in the present without destroying the image. The members of this album are bassist David Caines, who also participated in the 2001 reunion, keyboardist Rave Tisar, and drummer Joe Goldberger, who are support members from Annie’s solo album Blessing In Disguise released in 1995. (Rabe also participated in the 2001 reunion.) Also of note is the participation of Tom Brislin, who enjoyed playing keyboards on Yes’ 2001 Symphonic Tour. After the Ocean Gypsy performance, Annie will introduce a three-song EP to be released in June, and will perform a new song from it, The Mystic and The Muse, live for the first time. The encore will be the 18-minute long Ashes Are Burning, which will close the dramatic night. This is a recommended title that can be said to be one of the best latest Renaissance recordings at the moment. Live at Rosfest, Majestic Theater, Gettysburg, PA.
