In June 2016, Red Hot Chili Peppers released their long-awaited new album “The Getaway”, and in July, they will come to Japan as the headliner on the final day of Fuji Rock. The performance at the annual “Pink Pop Festival 2016” held in the Netherlands every June immediately after the album release is recorded in 91 minutes of master quality, pro-shot footage by WEBcast on air. In 2016, the festival will be held for three days from June 10th to 12th, and Red Hot Chili Peppers appeared as headliners on the first day, of course. Anthony also made a safe comeback at “Rock am Ring”, which they performed prior to this, and showed a lively performance here in the Netherlands. The set was almost the same as “Rock am Ring”, but the new songs from “The Getaway” were the lead single “Dark Necessities”, the title track “The Getaway”, and “We Turn Red”. Other highlights include the intro to “Wet Sand” featuring “Ziggy Stardust” as a tribute to Bowie, who passed away in January of the same year, and the final song, “Give It Away,” which segues into a free jam at the end.
