Description
RATT made a brilliant debut with the EP “RATT” in 1983, selling 50,000 copies. They followed up with their first full-length album “OUT OF CELLAR” in 1984 and their second album “INVATION OF PRIVACY” in 1986, which both reached number 7 in the US charts, and led the scene as a driving force behind the global heavy metal boom. The band’s peak was when “INVATION OF PRIVACY” was released, and they performed a fantastic performance on their UK tour in February 1986, opening for Ozzy Osbourne, as can be heard in the press CD title “INVASION OF BRITISH PRIVACY.” The band’s momentum was incredible, as they toured Japan in April of the same year, energetically touring the country for nearly a month. The third album “DANCING UNDERCOVER” released in 1986 only ranked 26th on the Billboard charts (it was certified platinum), but musically it was the pinnacle of their music, and the band’s momentum continued, with their first performance at the Budokan during their Japan tour in May 1987. This work completely records the second day of the “Monsters of Rock” event in Pforzheim, Germany on August 30, 1987, the final day of the “DANCING UNDERCOVER” tour, using stereo soundboard recordings from local broadcast sources. From this German version of “Monsters of Rock” in Pforzheim, the headliner DEEP PURPLE’s stage can be heard on “MEIN KAMPF,” and the second headliner DIO’s live performance was also released as “EVIL MONSTER.” All of these were top-notch, but this RATT recording has ultra-high sound quality that surpasses even the decisive items mentioned above! Compared to the same day recording “UNDERCOVER GERMANY,” the clarity and power of the sound has been clearly increased, and the pitch is normal. This work, which revives RATT’s heyday with the best sound, will knock out all metal fans! The moment “Lay It Down” begins with Stephen Pearcy’s call, the twin leads of Warren DeMartini and Robin Crosby pop out from the left and right channels with amazing realism! The tightly mixed band performance is full of official feeling, and you can hear not only the guitar and vocals, but also the bass of Fourn Cruche with a thick and solid tone. The masterpiece “You’re In Love,” in which the performances of the five band members are heavy and organically intertwined, is irresistible! The set list was chosen evenly from their four albums, from their debut EP “RATT” to “DANCING UNDERCOVER.” In the first half, the audience was bombarded with familiar classics such as “Wanted Man,” “Sweet Cheater,” and “You Should Know By Now.” The highlight of the show was the three new songs, “Dance,” “Drive Me Crazy,” and “Slip Of The Lip,” which were played in succession, sandwiched between “Morning After” from their first album. The dynamic, comfortable speed and positive rhythm that captivates the audience are the true essence of “Rat’n’Roll.” Steven’s unique singing voice and Warren and Robin’s sophisticated twin leads also added to the impressiveness of the songs. Towards the end, they played their signature songs “Walkin’ The Dog” and “Round And Round,” bringing the excitement of the show to a climax. The last song is “DANCING UNDERCOVER” followed by “Body Talk” which finishes with a rushing momentum. The entire live performance lasts about 45 minutes, but the density and richness of the performance give the listener a sense of satisfaction that exceeds the recording time. This work, which allows you to enjoy the RATT live performance at the peak of its popularity, woven with songs that are like a best album, on the best stereo sound board, is a must-listen for all metal fans!
