Description
After a miraculous comeback concert in 2016 that drew a huge response from HR fans around the world, Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow will hold a limited concert again in 2017 as promised. The third day, June 28th, the live performance in Birmingham, England, is recorded in a complete set of digitally remastered audio and video couplings. First of all, among the various audio sources of this day that are in circulation, it is the highest peak of digital audience master, and by further mastering it, it is a different dimension of soundboard level quality. And since the Manchester performance scheduled for June 22nd was canceled due to the terrorist bombing incident, this third performance is currently the last live performance of 2017, and this day also started with “Spotlight Kid” instead of “Highway Star”. Then came “I Surrender,” which appealed to the 70s and 80s Rainbow, and the set was changed again from the previous two shows, and although “Still I’m Sad,” “Sixteenth Century Greensleeves” and “The Temple of the King” were dropped from the set, it was still nice to see “Catch the Rainbow” return. Another surprise was the unexpected “Carry On… Jon,” which was suddenly performed at the end of the show, a tribute number to the late Jon Lord, included in Blackmore’s Night’s “DANCER AND THE MOON.” This heart-touching instrumental number is recorded to have only been performed a few times, even by Blackmore’s Night, and the full performance, and the acoustic performance, which is different from the original electric version, are very sad. In the keyboard solo in the middle of the show, Johansson plays a heartfelt organ solo, and the venue was momentarily in a melancholic mood with this masterpiece filled with feelings for Jon Lord. And although there was a terrible mistake in the intro of the last song “Smoke On The Water”, Rainbow’s climax live performance in 2017 was also full of feelings for Jon Lord, with the best content and quality. Furthermore, the video DVD is recorded in full for 124 minutes, with a close-up angle from the left side of the stage, with the best quality possible for a single camera. Because the quality is so great, it was not made into a multi-camera specification, and the missed tracks “Since You Been Gone” and “Man On The Silver Mountain” were supplemented with a different angle, and the audio was matrixed with the high-quality sound source of this CD. This limited collector’s edition is a must-have for fans as the definitive version of the final day. Disc 1 : 1. Land Of Hope And Glory 2. Over The Rainbow 3. Spotlight Kid 4. I Surrender 5.
