Description
A shocking master is here again from the Master Collection, which releases HR/HM masterpieces every day! Surprisingly, the original cassette master of the super famous recording from the Graham Bonnet era has been unearthed!! 2 CDs upgraded to the ultimate generation will be released at the same time! Speaking of RAINBOW’s Japan performance during the Graham era, it was a miraculous tour comparable to DEEP PURPLE’s first visit to Japan. Because all of them are great performances, not only are audience recordings of all performances being discovered, but there is a competition for the top recording every day. What was unearthed this time is the original cassette of the historical record that has been considered the “best recording” of the first two performances. The recording that has traditionally been the pinnacle has achieved the ultimate upgrade. This work is the second of two such newly discovered cassettes. This is a superb audience recording of the “May 9, 1980: Nippon Budokan” performance. Speaking of the Graham era, just like Purple’s first visit to Japan, there were only two venues in Tokyo and Osaka. First of all, let’s check the position of this work based on the schedule. First half: Nippon Budokan (3 performances) – May 8th “BUDOKAN 1980 1ST NIGHT: DEFINITIVE MASTER” – May 9th: Nippon Budokan ←★This work★ – 2 days off – May 12th “BUDOKAN 1980 FINAL NIGHT” Second half: Osaka Festival Hall (3 performances) ・May 13th “DEFINITIVE OSAKA 1980” *Disc 1-2 ・May 14th “DEFINITIVE OSAKA 1980” *Disc 3-4 ・May 15th “OSAKA 1980 FINAL NIGHT: DEFINITIVE MASTER” *Note: Only representative works are shown each day. [One of the two great recordings that have been refined is the ultimate evolution] There are 6 performances in total. As mentioned in the explanation of “1ST NIGHT: DEFINITIVE MASTER” which will be released at the same time, the content of this year’s visit to Japan will be different with “2 days in the first half + 4 days in the second half” including rehearsal. This time, the legendary recording Omoto cassette that represented the first two days was unearthed. The “2nd day” of this work is a fierce battleground with many recordings, but there are two main lines competing for the top spot. One is the prestigious “Kinney Recording”. In the old days, it was loved as “ON TOUR 1980: SINCE YOU BEEN GONE”, and recently, the top update album “DEFINITIVE BUDOKAN 1980 2ND NIGHT” has been very popular. The other is the classic version “WALKURE”. In our store, it is a famous recording known for “EYES OF THE BUDOKAN”. And this work is the latter. It is the original cassette of the “WALKURE series”. What’s even more surprising is that this “WALKURE series” was recorded by the recently talked about master collection. WHITESNAKE’s “TOKYO 1980 1ST NIGHT” attracted attention for its “higher sound quality than the official one” and recorded the highest sound quality in “1981 West Japan Trilogy”. DEEP PURPLE in 1985 also updated the highest peak of Osaka 2DAYS, and the Purple family alone is unearthing the best transcendent records one after another. And this time, the truth was revealed in the RAINBOW edition. The legendary records in Japanese recording history, “WALKURE” and “BROKEN DREAMS,” were created by this person! The introduction is long, but what came out of the original cassette was a shocking full show. It is an advantage that the intro is more than 2 minutes long than the legendary version “WALKURE”, and each fade part is also several seconds longer, but such things are just evidence of the original cassette. The real shock is the sound itself that runs through the entire story. The sound captured by the top-of-the-line “Sony ECM-989” and “Cassette Densuke D5M” at the time was just intense! Even compared to Kinney’s peak album “DEFINITIVE BUDOKAN 1980 2ND NIGHT”, it has a strong core that hits you right in front of you, and it has a direct feel. Moreover, the sound spread and sense of separation are extremely vivid. It is already clear from the first shot of “Eyes Of The World”. The band gradually increases the tension and suddenly enters around the first minute, but the dynamism of that moment is different from the previous ones. Up until now, it was a small space, but this time you can feel like you are exposed to wind pressure on the floor. Also, the sense of reality is super clear. While the Kinney recording focused on the performance, this work is the type that obediently absorbs the clapping of hands and the roar of the surroundings. Of course, it doesn’t interfere with the extremely powerful performance, but the honest and realistic sense of presence links with the power of the performance and stirs up the emotions of the listener. If you are someone who prefers to “exclude everything other than the performance as much as possible” like using a soundboard that is directly connected to a table, you will probably prefer Kinney recording, but if you are someone who wants to “immerse yourself in great performances on-site”, this work will be the king. . [A rising ensemble pushing back Graham’s singing] And that show is the biggest point. In the sister work “1ST NIGHT: DEFINITIVE MASTER”, I wrote that it was “Graham’s No.1 singing in his life”, and this work is also a great hustle (dead word). On top of that, the band, which had been pushed by Graham on the first day, has made a comeback, and the overall performance level has also improved. If you were to score this feeling on a scale of 100, it would be “first day = Graham 150 points + band 80 points”, and for this work, “second day = Graham 140 points + band 100 points”. Incidentally, if we were to calculate the score after that, it would be something like “After the third day = Graham 120 points + Band 120 points” (I’m sure you’ll say, “It’s almost over 100 points,” but that’s about it for the Japan tour in 1980. It’s abnormal). In fact, Graham in this work sings as well as he did on the first day. I feel like the momentary peak tension is higher on the first day, but it’s amazing because it stays at a high level and never lets up. During the promised “All Night Long” exchange, they seem to be showing off their amazingly long tones. Normally, he would ask, “Can you sing this?”, but on this day, Graham completely left the audience behind. He sings his throat so well that you can’t help but say to the speakers 40 years from now, “There’s no way I’ll be able to sing like that (lol).” And Ritchie/Cozy/Don/Roger is also amazing, pushing back against Graham, who remains high all the time. As mentioned above, it feels like it won’t be completely balanced until the “last four days”, but the band’s rhythm has gotten much better, and it’s even groovy. And even if you concentrate on each instrument, every part is gorgeous and brilliantly performed. This real pleasure has been experienced since the second period DEEP PURPLE. “Another great recording” that has competed for the top over a long history without taking a step back from the famous Kinney’s historical masterpiece. This is a shocking live album that was digitized directly from the original cassette. “1ST NIGHT” where you can listen to Graham singing the best of his life, and this work that shows the true nature of the strongest RAINBOW that pushes back Graham. Even after miraculously coming to Japan in 1980, this is a sister work that renews the highest peak of the original two performances. Superb audience recording of the Graham Bonnet era “May 9, 1980: Nippon Budokan” performance. A masterpiece among masterpieces that has been digitized from a newly discovered original cassette of the traditional famous recording known as “WALKURE”. The intro is more than 2 minutes longer than the previous release, and each fade part is also several seconds longer, but the real impact is the sound itself that runs through the entire album. Anyway, it’s intensely on, and the core is powerful and direct, as if it’s thrusting right in front of you. While the previous group was small even with the same recording, this work has a different sound spread, sense of separation, and dynamism. This is a super masterpiece that allows you to experience the best performance of Graham, who is at his peak, and a band who are on the rise going head-to-head.
