Description

A shocking master is here again from the Master Collection, which releases HR/HM masterpieces every day! Surprisingly, the original cassette master of the super famous recording from the Graham Bonnet era has been unearthed!! 2 CDs upgraded to the ultimate generation will be released at the same time! Speaking of RAINBOW’s Japan performance during the Graham era, it was a miraculous tour comparable to DEEP PURPLE’s first visit to Japan. Because all of them are great performances, not only are audience recordings of all performances being discovered, but there is a competition for the top recording every day. What was unearthed this time is the original cassette of the historical record that has been considered the “best recording” of the first two performances. The recording that has traditionally been the pinnacle has achieved the ultimate upgrade. This work is the first of two such newly discovered cassettes. This is the best audience recording of the “May 8, 1980: Nippon Budokan” performance. Speaking of the Graham era, just like Purple’s first visit to Japan, there were only two venues in Tokyo and Osaka. First of all, let’s check the position of this work based on the schedule. First half: Nippon Budokan (3 performances) ・May 8th: Nippon Budokan ←★This work★ ・May 9th “BUDOKAN 1980 2ND NIGHT: DEFINITIVE MASTER” – 2 days off ・May 12th “BUDOKAN 1980 FINAL NIGHT” Second half: Osaka Festival Hall (3 performances) ・May 13th “DEFINITIVE OSAKA 1980” *Disc 1-2 ・May 14th “DEFINITIVE OSAKA 1980” *Disc 3-4 ・May 15th “OSAKA 1980 FINAL NIGHT: DEFINITIVE MASTER” *Note: Only representative works are shown each day. [The first day album of the super masterpiece class finally born] Above, all 6 performances. This year was the first visit to Japan for Graham and Don Airey, and this work was the first day of that year. Some people think of the schedule as “3 days in Tokyo + 3 days in Osaka”, but when you get into the details of the show (described later), “2 days + 4 days” is actually more appropriate. This time, the highest peak master of the first two days has jumped out. Now, this time, we will not be recording for the first time, but excavating the original master of the legendary recording that represents each day. In the case of this work, it is the original cassette of the audience recording known for the famous “BROKEN DREAMS” which was the best on the first day (DISC 1-2 of our store “FACING GRAHAM” is also of this type). Some people may hear the word “BROKEN DREAMS” and think of a rounded, fuzzy sound. Or it may be remembered as “a mediocre recording that became a masterpiece because it was the first day without a masterpiece.” However, what came out of the Omoto cassette was a clear, superb sound that completely overturned those preconceptions! In fact, the sound of this work is super clear. The highest quality equipment at the time was used, the “Sony ECM-989” microphone and the “cassette Densuke D5M” recorder, which was perfect for metal tape. The sound had no lumpy feel, and each instrument was neatly separated. Each note has a good granularity, and even the reverberation of the drum cymbals is sharp. Anyway, I was surprised by the beautiful extension of the treble, but by the time the shock wore off, I was again surprised at how clean the deep bass was as well. The details that were destroyed by increasing the sound pressure in previous releases are beautifully preserved, and for example, even when playing Roger Glover’s bass, the outline of each attack is beautiful, and the sense of drive that is created by connecting them is vivid. It’s possible. To be honest, until now, only the first day of recording in 1980 was depressed. The other five days were “super masterpiece” and “miracle recording” classes, but only the first day was different. However, with the release of this work, that perception will change dramatically. I’m not going to say “this is the best masterpiece!” because I have a preference for sound, but I would definitely compare it to the other 5 days. It has evolved into a super masterpiece that fills the final piece of the miraculous 6 days! [The best performance of a lifetime!? A super unique performance with a roaring voice] Moreover, the content of the show is even more special! I wrote earlier about “2 days + 4 days,” but in reality, the “last 4 days” is more popular. By rehearsing again during the off period, the perfection of the ensemble will increase, and “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” will also be added. However, the first two performances have immeasurable charm in terms of such visible points. That’s Graham’s voice! In fact, this show (no longer exists!?) has been praised on a fan site dedicated to Graham, saying, “No.1 singing on the world tour”, “More intense than MONSTERS OF ROCK who are enthusiastic about the big stage”, “No, it’s not just RAINBOW, it’s career.・Hi!” was praised highly. In fact, the singing voice that comes out of this work is so exciting that it’s not funny at all. For example, “Eyes Of The World” is in the 2 minute range. The thump, like hitting something into the ground, is powerful, but it’s not a shout, and the sky-high high extends forever, but it’s not a shout. Honestly, I don’t have the courage to claim that it’s “No. 1 in the world” or “No. 1 in my career” like some fan sites say, but I certainly don’t remember hearing any better vocalization than this. It was probably because it was the first day that the song was so loud. It seems that the new members Graham and Don were shocked by how popular Japan was, but their excitement was on full display. Some of the fans who experienced this day said, “I could only hear Graham’s voice,” but that was probably because Graham’s voice was simply louder than because of the PA. The backing from this work sounds so clear that you can only think so, and even then, the singing voice is just bursting out. Perhaps the band as a whole is more solidified in the “last four days”. The precious “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” is also hard to throw away. However, this tension, this vocalization, this singing is only found in “May 8, 1980”. Not everyone will have the same impression, but I can say with all my humility that “Graham on this day was no ordinary person.” A historical excavation of Omoto cassette that lets you experience such a full show with super masterpiece-class sound. A superb audience recording of the Graham Bonnet era “May 8, 1980: Nippon Budokan” performance. The original cassette of the traditional edition “BROKEN DREAMS”, which is famous as the best recording of the day, has been miraculously newly discovered. This is a masterpiece that has been directly digitized. The sound is incredibly clear and clear from previous releases, and each instrument is neatly separated. Each note has a good granularity, and even the reverberation of the drum cymbals is sharp. And the impact of the show is even more than that, with a roar of singing that is whispered among enthusiasts as “the best of Graham’s life” throughout the entire performance. This is a new masterpiece of a live album where you can experience the highest peak of an exceptionally unique show even in 1980, when there were only great performances.
