Description

From the 1982 Japan tour accompanying the release of RAINBOW’s “STRAIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES,” the performance at Nippon Budokan in Tokyo on October 21st, the final stage of the tour, was released with a surprising title based on the excellent audience master who appeared for the first time. It’s decided. In “STRAIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES”, the second album after Joe Lynn Turner joined, the pop trend (mainly aimed at the American market) that has been promoted since “DOWN TO EARTH” reaches its peak. The American tour started in May 1982 and continued until the latter half of August, with the tour energetically touring various parts of the United States over the course of three months. It also ranked 30th on the Billboard chart, surpassing “DOWN TO EARTH” (66th) and “DIFFICULT TO CURE” (50th). However, this year 1982 was also a strange tour in that, for some reason, there was no live show in their home country of England, even though they held a one-month tour in Europe as well as the United States mentioned above. The album reached number 5 in the UK, which is amazing). Still, RAINBOW will hold a live show in Japan on a scale comparable to last year’s tour, from October 12th at Osaka Festival Hall to October 22nd at Nippon Budokan (second day). RAINBOW, who developed a new fan base with their tour last year, performed live shows full of enthusiasm in various locations. In this work, the 7th day and the first day of Nippon Budokan are recorded directly from the original cassette master, which is completely unknown even among traders. Although the live performance is already known for several existing sound sources such as “RIPPED APART”, this work will entertain you with a realistic performance from a new angle. In this recording, Taper recorded the venue pattern from No. 45 in the Y row of the arena with solid brightness. While the performance on stage is captured with a high sense of stability, the listener can also realistically experience the enthusiastic audience (the moderate echo also creates an atmosphere typical of a Budokan live performance). The first half of the live was filled with songs such as “Spotlight Kid” where Richie’s guitar and Joe’s vocals played vigorously, the melodious “Miss Mistreated”, and the catchy “I Surrender” and “Can’t Happen Here”. You can enjoy the solid development that can be called “RAINBOW of the Joe era!” “Tearin’ Out My Heart,” with its melancholy melody and wonderfully surging development in the second half, is a highlight that can only be heard at the 1982 live show. Furthermore, at this time of year, the set list that uses plenty of DEEP PURPLE’s famous songs will be attractive. “All Night Long” uses “Lazy” as an intro, “Stone Cold” introduces “Child In Time” (an extension of David Rosenthal’s keyboard solo), as well as “Woman From Tokyo” and “Power”. The combination of DEEP PURPLE and RAINBOW’s famous songs alternately excites the listeners as well as the fans at the venue who were engraved on the sound source. In addition, the intro of “Woman From Tokyo” from the conclusion of “Blues” that was missing in “RIPPED APART” can be clearly confirmed in this recording. After playing “Since You Been Gone” in the encore, “Smoke On The Water” explodes. The fans at the venue also sang along in chorus during the chorus, adding to the excitement of the climax of the live performance. During the guitar crash that unfolds at the end of the show, you can feel the events on stage and the noisy audience in a realistic manner. The texture also pops out)! The tour to Japan in 1982 was a tour that was controversial even among enthusiasts, with people saying, “The excitement was a little low,” but when you listen to the excitement recorded in this work, you can see that, “Compared to the previous visits to Japan, You should be able to understand that this is a story about “. With 100 minutes of excitement and enthusiasm, it would be no surprise if it was released normally. RAINBOW fans, please take this opportunity to enjoy this work!
