Description

The 1976 Japan tour, when RAINBOW made their memorable first visit to Japan, has important value in that all the live records, including sound boards and audience recordings, are unique. However, among them, the live performance featuring “A Light In The Black,” which was rarely performed in Japan, is particularly popular and supported among fans (the Budokan performance on December 16th, afternoon session is a good example). Even among the rare live performances where “A Light In The Black” was performed, the one that enthusiasts recognize as “particularly interesting” is the Kyoto performance on December 10th. The performance of the band, which is too energetic, is in a sense very much like the “triumvirate” RAINBOW, and it is also a show where you can enjoy their destructive power. Items recorded in the ’76 Kyoto performance, including “KILL FOR THE KING,” have become known as excellent items recently. Among them, the released “KYOTO 1976 MASTER TAPE” has a recording time of just 2 hours and excellent sound quality, and the quality is comparable to that of the previous releases, surprising many fans. This time, in response to the requests of the fans, we have decided to release this masterpiece again! For RAINBOW fans, this is a big surprise! As the title suggests, the sound quality of this work is a big attraction that convinces the listener of the master quality. The clear brightness that runs through the entire live performance, the natural and gentle sound image is very easy to listen to, and the live performance is recorded with a stable and high-quality sound image. Needless to say, it is a completely different recording from the previous releases (the outro “Over The Rainbow”, which was cut in many previous releases, is completely recorded until the end). You can enjoy the chaotic performance of this day from a different angle than any of the sound sources on the same day, such as the above-mentioned “KILL FOR THE KING”. On this day, there was a series of listening points starting from “Kill The King”. Even die-hard enthusiasts will be surprised by this song, in which Richie plays backing with a different touch than usual (if you see Richie tuning for a long time after playing “Kill The King”, you can deduce that he had to play this way due to some kind of trouble). However, even with some trouble, the tension does not drop at that time in RAINBOW. In the following “Mistreated” and “Sixteenth Century Greensleeves”, you can clearly see that the members are united and powerful performances explode, and they are riding on the momentum. However, perhaps because they were too energetic, Richie skipped the introductory solo in “Catch The Rainbow” and started playing right away, and Ronnie also made a mistake in the song in “Stargazer”, and the performance proceeded without vocals (even if he tried to do it over, he couldn’t get through it, and it became a performance without any effort), so the live performance can be said to be unconventional. On the contrary, perhaps they were resigned to this, but “Still I’m Sad” has a western-style ad-lib jam and a cover of SHADOWS inserted in the intro, and the main part of the song also has a wilder impression than usual (of course, Cozy’s drum solo is also great). And the final blow is the encore “A Light in the Black”. The performance, as if all the members are sprinting, is full of wildness and impulsiveness! You will be able to enjoy the original fun and excitement of hard rock with a lively sound to the fullest! The content is full of things to listen to for the entire 120 minutes, and it is full of original charm among the many live performances of RAINBOW! It is guaranteed to excite the listener. With a sound different from any previous release, it is a high-quality reproduction of an unforgettable night in Kyoto.
