Description

“PARIS RISING”, recorded in high quality audience recording for over 100 minutes from the 1976 European tour accompanying the release of RAINBOW’s “RISING”, was given great praise and support from fans at the time of the previous release, with a superior sound that far surpasses various previous releases, and the quality that should be released normally. The release of “PARIS RISING” has been decided in response to the requests of everyone who wants to hear it! This sound source is based on the finest audience source specially provided by a person who is particularly well-known among European collectors (the person said, “It was copied directly from the cassette master. It is a vintage sound source with the seal of approval that there is no better sound quality for this performance.”). The first half of the live performance has a slightly strong input and a noisy feel, but the freshness and spread of the sound are wonderful, and all listeners should be convinced of the master quality. The sound’s luster and realism, as well as the balance between sound pressure and separation, are at an ideal level for an audience recording made more than 40 years ago (and of course the pitch is accurate). Although there are some parts where the tape shows signs of aging (albeit only slightly), the high frequencies are output clearly and effortlessly, and I can say with confidence that this is a recording that any avid RAINBOW fanatic can enjoy repeatedly. Even in the ’76 RAINBOW live performance, where almost every live performance featured a number of divinely brilliant performances, this day was a day when highly acclaimed performances were realized among fans. From the explosive opening of “Kill The King” to the passionate “Mistreated,” the performance of the gem of a band in which all five members came together is a great listen! Ronnie’s vocals in particular are in top form. There are too many great performances to mention on this day, from the soul-squeezing “Mistreated” to the dazzling drama that depicts the listener in “Sixteenth Century Greensleeves.” As if inspired by Ronnie’s singing, Richie also performed a controlled and brilliant solo. Cozy also played powerful drumming to rival the two. Any RAINBOW fan would be fascinated by the overwhelming performance of “Catch The Rainbow”, which is a perfect fusion of Ronnie, Richie, and Cozy’s performance! The spontaneous mood of the energized band is linked to the positive performance unique to this day everywhere. In the intro of “Man On The Silver Mountain”, following the promised “Lazy”, Richie also performed the riff of “Smoke On The Water”, boiling the audience. In addition, in the introduction of the song “Stargazer”, Ronnie sings improvisationally to Richie’s guitar and introduces it. As has also been discussed among overseas enthusiasts, Tony Carley’s keyboard solo in the intro of “Stargazer” on this day is excellent, and his aggressive playing is particularly impressive. This is also a major highlight of this album. After the 10-minute performance of “Stargazer,” “Still I’m Sad” starts with Richie’s sharp riff without any pause! In the middle of the song, Cozy’s drum solo is also recorded with a stable and powerful sound. The encore “Do You Close Your Eyes” is also very powerful. It’s nice to hear the realistic guitar tone from the intro, and the highlight guitar crash has a dynamic “Gashaan!” sound behind the keyboard solo. From the opening to the end, the performance and live document recorded with a thick and powerful sound are not to be missed even by RAINBOW enthusiasts.
