Description

QUIET RIOT made their first visit to Japan in 1985 on the back of successive hits such as “METAL HEALTH” and “CONDITION CRITICAL.” The original recording will be released. This work includes the “January 31, 1985: Osaka Festival Hall” performance. This is the first Odin recording. The band had such deep ties to Japan that their albums from the Randy era were released only in Japan, but they didn’t actually come to Japan until the 1980s, when they became popular in the United States. First of all, let’s look back at the schedule at that time and check the position of the show.・January 30: Nagoya City Public Hall ・January 31: Osaka Festival Hall ←★This work★ ・February 1: Nakano Sun Plaza ・February 2: Nakano Sun Plaza ・February 3: Nakano Sun Plaza・February 4th: Nakano Sun Plaza, 6 performances in total. Although it follows the standard flow of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, most of them are in Tokyo. What’s more, it was a unique schedule, with four consecutive days at Nakano Sunplaza. The Osaka performance of this work was a concert just before the Tokyo performance. This work recorded at the scene is a clear real audience. Although it cannot be denied that it is a little far away, the core that penetrates the space is clear and vivid like a laser beam. Above all, since it was made into a CD directly from the original master, the freshness is outstanding, and there are no dubbing marks or deterioration at all. It’s a super fresh sound that makes you think, “I never played it back since I recorded it!” This time machine sound depicts a show that gets people excited because it is their first visit to Japan. At our store, the live album “RYOGOKU KOKUGIKAN 1986” from the following year in 1986 is also very popular, but since it was a separate tour, the set was of course different. In fact, the last three songs, “Metal Health (Bang Your Head),” “Mama, Weer All Crazee Now,” and “(We Were) Born To Rock” were not recorded, so it was an incomplete version. Still, there is a solid repertoire that cannot be heard on “RYOGOKU KOKUGIKAN 1986”. Let’s compare and organize them here. METAL HEALTH (6 songs)・Slick Black Cadillac/Love’s A Bitch/Don’t Wanna Let You Go/Run For Cover/Let’s Get Crazy/Cum On Feel The Noise CONDITION CRITICAL (4 songs)・Sign Of The Times/Party All Night (★) / Winners Take All (★) / Stomp Your Hands, Clap Your Feet (★) *Note: Songs marked with “★” were not heard on “RYOGOKU KOKUGIKAN 1986”. …and it looks like this. The set, which is a condensation of two major works, is truly a greatest hits, and “CONDITION CRITICAL”, which I could not hear when I came to Japan the following year, is also delicious. What’s even more amazing is the on-site feeling that comes from coming to Japan for the first time. In fact, this recording also captures the clapping at the scene, which is extremely realistic. A steady wave of handclaps filled the venue, and although they weren’t singing the lyrics, a huge chorus suddenly erupted at the chorus of the song… The unique mood of the “Japanese Western music boom” is in full swing. QUIET RIOT was definitely a darling of the times, although they did not reach the level of the big bands that have been around for many years. This work is a super realistic album that brings out the passionate performances of the Golden Age and the excitement of the Western music boom from the speakers.
