Description
QUEEN + Adam Lampert’s “THE RHAPSODY TOUR” performance in Japan has finally been completed. A masterpiece original recording containing the Osaka performance is now available. What is included in this work is, of course, the “January 28, 2020: Kyocera Dome Osaka” performance. This is the best audience recording. The other day, we reported on the first half of the Kanto performance, and in addition to that album, the second half of the show in Western Japan has also appeared. A live album of all performances was released at once. The release rush is in full swing, so let’s organize each release by schedule.・January 25th “SAITAMA SUPER ARENA 2020 1ST NIGHT” ・January 26th “SAITAMA SUPER ARENA 2020 2ND NIGHT” ・January 28th: Kyocera Dome Osaka ←★This work★ ・January 30th “NAGOYA DOME 2020” *Note: Only representative live albums are available each day. That’s all 4 performances. All of the above are simultaneous releases. This work will be the first live album of the Osaka performance, but a separate recording “KYOCERA DOME OSAKA 2020” and video version “OSAKA 2020: THE VIDEO” will also be released. This is a comprehensive report with 3 titles. You may be confused by the sudden appearance of so many people, but if you’re lost in Osaka, this is the place to go. This is a two-disc set of the most important live albums that have been released normally. [Super direct sound in the front 4th row] Why it is important is, of course, the quality. After all, the attention level of QUEEN + Adam this time was unusual, and a huge swell that even the general public was involved in hit the archipelago, and a number of recordings erupted immediately after the performance. We have received many masterpiece recordings at our store, but one of the best has been made into a live album. In fact, the sound is overwhelming, and what’s great about it is the vivid direct feeling! Anyway, the performance and vocals are close, and the core is very thick, so the details are clear. The first 4-disc set of the Kanto edition that I reported the other day, “SAITAMA SUPER ARENA 2020,” was beautiful but had a sound wrapped in an audience-like sound, but this work is completely naked at its core and approaches your hands. There is no mistaking it for a sound board because the evidence of the audience is engraved in the vivid sense of the scene and the sound of the snare tone, but it is comparable to a sound board in terms of clarity. It’s a super clear and direct feeling that makes you wonder, “This is a dome recording!?” In fact, there is a reason why such a fastball sound was achieved. This is an original recording of this work that was given directly by the recording artist himself, but the recording position is extremely close to the stage. It’s the fourth row from the front. Of course, it’s not as simple as “front seats = the best sound”, and if the echoes come around, it will actually get worse. However, there is no such worry in this work. It seems to pick up the PA sound directly, and there is almost no ringing component in the straight core. Moreover, the loud cheers and loud choruses are carried from behind, and do not come between the sound of the performance. Instead, it is a live album where you can fully immerse yourself in the “sounds of QUEEN and Adam” so powerfully that even the enthusiasm that is unique to the front is close, but even that is suppressed. [Actually, there were a surprising number of famous songs that were performed for the first time in Osaka] The sound depicts a majestic full show. This is QUEEN+Adam’s third visit to Japan, and the set has changed for each performance the past two times. This time too, the change was noticed, but when you open the lid and look, it is the same as in Kanto (On the first day of Saitama, the position of “I Was Born To Love You” was different, but the selection is the same). It seems that they focused on creating the most spectacular production ever and the perfection of the performance. For the overall picture, please see the explanations of other works, but here, let’s change the theme a little and rearrange it by comparing it with past performances in Osaka. Songs we played last time in Osaka (2014): Now I’m Here/Seven Seas of Rhye/Killer Queen/Somebody to Love/Another One Bites the Dust/Love of My Life/Crazy Little Thing Called Love/Under Pressure/ Who Wants to Live Forever/Radio Ga Ga/Bohemian Rhapsody/We Will Rock YouWe Are the Champions・Japan-only song: Teo Torriatte (Let Us Cling Together)/I Was Born To Love You This song was performed for the first time in Osaka・Since 1985: Keep Yourself Alive/Hammer to Fall/Dragon Attack/I Want to Break Free/Tie Your Mother Down ・Since 1979: Don’t Stop Me Now/I’m in Love With My Car/Bicycle Race/’ 39・Since 1976: In the Lap of the Gods… Revisited/Doing All Right・Osaka Premiere: I Want It All/The Show Must Go On…And so it goes like this. There was no Osaka performance in 2016 or QUEEN + Paul Rodgers’ visit to Japan, and the set was different from Tokyo in the first visit to Japan (2014), so there are quite a few songs that were performed for the first time. “I Want It All” and “The Show Must Go On”, which are familiar in the Kanto region, were first performed in Osaka, and “Hammer to Fall”, “I Want to Break Free”, and “Tie Your Mother Down” were performed by Freddie Japan. Since “May 15, 1985” which was the last stage. It’s been 44 years since “In the Lap of the Gods… Revisited”. Of course, Brian and Roger probably don’t have such detailed emotions, but there were probably some people at the venue who were experiencing it live for the first time. This time “THE RHAPSODY TOUR” showed excitement comparable to Freddie’s heyday when he was still alive. This is the best live album of the Osaka performance that appeared as the second part of the report. Japan will continue to love QUEEN from now on, but it will not be possible to expect a tour as grand as this one. A report on Western Japan that will give you a taste of what may be the last festival.
