Description
A brush-up of the masterpiece of the live album that represents the wonderful “A DAY AT THE RACES TOUR”. The masterpiece was recorded at “Seattle Performance on March 13, 1977”. It is the super best audience recording. “A DAY AT THE RACES” was released in December 1976, but the tour started in January 1977. Speaking of 1977, “NEWS OF THE WORLD TOUR” is also involved, so let’s look back at the two tours together and check the show’s position. ●1977 “A DAY AT THE RACES TOUR”・January 13th – March 18th: North America #1 (40 performances) ←★Coco★・May 8th – June 7th: Europe #1 (19 performances) )《“NEWS OF THE WORLD” released on October 28th》 “NEWS OF THE WORLD TOUR”・November 11th – December 22nd: North America #2 (26 performances) ●1978・April 12th – May 13th: Europe #2 (20 performances) This is an overview of 1977, when they were climbing the ladder of success. “A DAY AT THE RACES TOUR” started in America, which should be conquered, but the Seattle performance of this work was the 37th concert at the end of “North America #1”. This show is famous for having super superb recordings above all else. Since the analog era, masterpieces such as “P.N.W.” and “DUCK SOUP” have continued to be loved as classics. This work is also a superb audience recording born from such a show, and is the longest and highest peak recording of “A DAY AT THE RACES TOUR”, which was discovered 10 years ago. Its appearance was a shock. The freshness that was digitized from the original reel master before it became an LP is ultimate, and the songs that were not included on the analog version, such as “A Day At The Races Intro”, “Tie Your Mother Down”, “Stone Cold Crazy”, and “Keep” Yourself Alive” also appears. The sound was so good that various speculations such as “It’s actually a sound board,” “Isn’t it recorded separately from analog?” and “Maybe it’s the same taper as LED ZEPPELIN’s 1975 Seattle recording” were thrown around. It was such a miraculous sound that I couldn’t help but look for the other side, and it was so intense that I could agree with both of those theories. At our store, we introduced that famous recording as “A DAY AT SEATTLE,” but it was sold out and out of print in an instant. This work is a refinement of such a super and definitive recording with the latest and meticulous remastering. The point is the sound board feel. As mentioned earlier, it was so clear and vivid that people said, “Actually, SBD!?”, but the hall sound was clearly an audience recording. Therefore, this work suppresses the hall ringing and increases the detail of each note. I just adjusted the sound pressure and didn’t increase it recklessly, but the more vivid the contours made it feel even more lively and close. In particular, Freddie’s singing voice and piano have a close feeling that flows directly into your ears, making it truly a direct sound like a soundboard. Another point is gloss. In fact, this recording is also known for its strong highs (albeit at a very high level), and when the highs reach their peak, it’s tough. In particular, I felt that the “sa line” in the lyrics was very exciting. In this work, such high frequencies are also adjusted individually. The overall balance is maintained at a level that does not impair sound quality. What is depicted with such sound is the wonderful world of “A DAY AT THE RACES TOUR”. This tour is in the process of growing from an up-and-coming young band to a big name band, and the number of popular songs such as “Somebody to Love” that has become a huge standard has increased. “Brighton Rock” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” are also starting to be played in full. Still, it’s full of delicious songs such as “The Millionaire Waltz,” “You Take My Breath Away,” “White Man/The Prophet’s Song,” and “In The Lap Of The Gods…Revisited.” It’s not a mind-bogglingly exciting song, but the rush of colorful famous songs one after another is enough to overwhelm you. Unfortunately, the recording ended without reaching the final “God Save The Queen”. However, other than that, I can’t find any other flaws. There is no other live album where you can enjoy “A DAY AT THE RACES TOUR” for such a long time with such a miraculous sound. This is one that updates the highest peak of such historical recordings. If you want to listen to the A DAY AT THE RACES era, this is a great album. ★The highest sound quality on the “A DAY AT THE RACES” tour is this one. ★(Remastered memo) Although the sound quality is quite high, it has a hall-like sound, so it has been improved to make it clearer.
