Description
The famous performance “June 5, 1982 Milton Keynes Performance” which was also included in the official work “QUEEN ON FIRE: LIVE AT THE BOWL”. The real audience recording that can be made at the scene will be released. Although the album “HOT SPACE” received mixed reviews, the accompanying tour was a splendid series of great performances. In particular, the continental European tour before the album’s release, and the home country tour immediately after, produced a series of sky-high, high-tension shows. The highlight performance was Milton Keynes. First, let’s take a look at the flow of the world tour at the time. “HOT SPACE” completed in March – April 9th - May 22nd: Europe (26 performances) “HOT SPACE” released on May 21st – May 29th – June 5th: UK (4 Performances)←★Coco★・July 21st – September 15th: North America (33 performances)・October 19th – November 3rd: Japan (6 performances) This is the overall picture of “HOT SPACE TOUR 1982”. The European/UK tour was a series of events that took place almost immediately, and this Milton Keynes performance was the last. It was also the final show before flying off to North America/Japan. The pattern is familiar from “QUEEN ON FIRE: LIVE AT THE BOWL”, but this work is a live album that captures the scene from the audience’s perspective. The quality of this work is a truly realistic audience recording. I’m not the type to tout things like “It’s like a sound board!” or “The best recording!!”, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a roaring sound. This is a newly discovered master in recent years, and although it is difficult to understand the details and subtleties, the big-boned singing voice pierces the great enthusiasm, and the meaty performance is full of power. Although it absorbs both the big chorus and the big applause, QUEEN’s performance is the sound that does not give up the leading role. What’s also wonderful is the feeling of being on site full of heroes from your home country. They sing all-time great songs and fully enjoy Freddie’s call-and-response. Moreover, the real-time feeling is delicious. Although the new song “HOT SPACE” that was just released received generous applause, it was not familiar enough to sing. I don’t even remember the lyrics, and I can’t help but shout out the chorus and the long sounds of “Oh!” and “Ah!”, but I’m still filled with the passion to get in the mood. The atmosphere is like a performance in Japan where they shout out the lyrics from memory, but it’s strangely refreshing to think that even native English speakers would be like this right after the song’s release. The festival atmosphere that surrounds the scene is also nice. The venue, the National Bowl, is a circular outdoor venue that has given rise to many legends, but it has a sense of openness and innocence as you enjoy an early summer music event. The experience is so realistic that just by closing your eyes, you can imagine the smell of green grass and the wide blue sky. Of course, the essential show is also a must-listen. Although it is an official work, this work is 100% raw and unprocessed. Trouble during the guitar solo, which was officially shortened to 3 seconds, is also recorded exactly, and you can also listen to Roger’s improvised drum solo that was performed on occasion (this is also the last drum solo of the original QUEEN). Also, in “Fat Bottomed Girls”, some of Freddie’s vocals were replaced, but of course this work is as on-site. You can experience the original raw voice that has been cracked with a solid sound. The official work “QUEEN ON FIRE: LIVE AT THE BOWL” is so amazing that I want to be there. I want to feel the wind and vibrations of the venue…This is the new excavation master who will make those fans’ dreams come true. It is not a superb live album that threatens the official work, but that is why it is a heart-warming album with a sense of the scene.
