Description

This work includes “Bristol performance on November 29, 1973”. This is a vintage audience recording. Speaking of early QUEEN, it is archived with the masterpieces “GLASGOW 1973” and “POP SPECTACULAR”, and the new excavation master “OXFORD 1973” is also released at the same time. We will leave the activity summary to the explanation of “OXFORD 1973”, but here we will take a closer look at the positions of the few recordings.・February 5th: BBC Session (official: ON AIR) ・April 9th: London performance [“The Dread Princess” released on July 13th] ・July 13th – August 3rd (3 performances) ・9 October 13th “POP SPECTACULAR” & official “ON AIR” ・October 13th – November 16th (8 performances) ・November 17th: Liverpool performance “POP SPECTACULAR” ・November 18th + 19th ( 2 performances) ・November 20th “OXFORD 1973” ・November 21st + 22nd (2 performances) ・November 23rd “GLASGOW 1973” ・November 25th-28th (4 performances) ・November 29th: Bristol performance ←★This work★ ・November 30th – December 2nd (3 performances) ・December 3rd: BBC Session (official: ON AIR) ・December 6th – 28th: UK #3 (8 performances) ) This is a record from 1973, and all shows were from his home country of England. We have introduced audience recordings of three performances (Liverpool/Oxford/Glasgow), but the Bristol performance of this work is later than that. This is a live album that records their rapid growth through the experience of live shows day after day and night after night. Like the simultaneously released “OXFORD 1973”, this show has been known to be recorded for a long time, but this work is an upgraded master that was recently discovered. The sound is wonderfully fresh and clear. It is not the type that can be mistaken for a sound board, but rather a valuable vintage recording, but its core jumps into your hand powerfully without making you feel the distance, and the sound played by the four people has a clear outline. In fact, that individuality could be felt even in the previous master, but the detail in the mid-bass was lost during the dubbing process, making it muffled, and only the high tones stood out. What’s more, the peaks of the high notes were a little distorted, and the sound pierced my ears even though the whole thing was solid. On the other hand, in this work, even the subtleties of the mid-bass are clearly understood, and even the gaps between instruments are clear without a feeling of stiffness. Even though the balance itself, which is characteristic of the high notes, has not changed, the entire ensemble stands out without piercing the ears. This work is a brush-up of such a new master with the latest mastering. Of course, we are not trying to increase the sound pressure in any way. While maintaining the freshness of the new excavation, we adjusted the pitch and sound pressure that had been changing randomly, and achieved a level of perfection that can be listened to as a musical work. In addition to the sound, I’m also happy that it’s long. As mentioned above, we have introduced three early audience recordings so far, but most of them are about 30 minutes, and at most 40 minutes. This UK tour is in support of MOTT THE HOOPLE, so this work is not long at all, but the recording time of over 43 minutes is the longest live album in 1973. You can enjoy precious numbers such as “Hangman” and Little Richard’s cover “Bama Lama Bama Loo” uncut. Also, their performance shows that they have grown as a result of their first UK tour. Although the tension was not as explosive as the three performances mentioned above, the show was performed in a concentrated manner and the performance was excellent. Of course, this does not mean that the excitement was low; the ensemble, which was ignited by “Keep Yourself Alive,” was in particular all at once fired up, and the venue became heated accordingly. You can also enjoy the 1973-like atmosphere in which the rock’n’roll medley is more exciting than the original (the female audience is laughing out loud during Big Spender, maybe something Freddie did?). A masterpiece from the early days. 27-year-old Freddie roars, 26-year-old Brian roars the Red Special, and 24-year-old Roger and 22-year-old John pound out ferocious beats. This is a new excavation master who can experience such a site for real. The longest live album in the extremely valuable 1973 collection. Best sound quality ever. The pitch is also extremely accurate. Live at Colston Hall, Bristol, UK 29th November 1973 TRULY AMAZING SOUND *UPGRADE (43:11) 1. Procession 2. Father To Son 3. Son And Daughter 4. Ogre Battle 5.
