Description
Bohemian Rhapsody won two Golden Globe Awards and was nominated for five Academy Awards. Some say that the production is “different from historical reality” because of its focus on entertainment, but once upon a time there existed a masterpiece documentary program that answered the question “What was it really like?” The highest version has been decided to be released. This work includes the QUEEN special program “IS THIS THE REAL LIFE?” produced in 1999. This is the Japanese broadcast version. Speaking of 1999, “GREATEST HITS III” was released and became a huge hit. It was a time when I was reevaluating myself for the umpteenth time. Perhaps because of the style of the show, which was a strong tribute to Freddie, the program also approached the truth while following Freddie’s life. In Japan, where QUEEN is very popular, a subtitled version was aired by a certain broadcasting company. This work is the air check video. Of course, the quality is top notch. Our store has been archiving music programs by core recording enthusiasts, and this is the latest release. Since the broadcast itself was just around the corner of the 21st century, it has been preserved with even greater visual beauty than usual. Now, onto the main topic. The program features videos from various eras, as well as talks from musicians and people involved. Although it is only a 50-minute time frame, we will follow you from the formation of SMILE to the Freddie memorial concert. You might think it’s the best show right now because of its length, but it’s actually not. Concentrating interesting comments in a short time, this is one of the many documentaries out there. The rhetoric from my musician friends is kept to a minimum, and the focus is on people involved. The costume designer and Roy Thomas Baker speak in the early scenes of the creation of the style, and in the process of success, the NME reporter who wrote the bashing article reveals what his intentions were. This reporter is interesting. As one broadcaster recalls, “The way they criticized NME was amazing. Freddie was severely criticized,” a photo of Freddie in a ballerina costume was shown with a big picture and an article titled “Is this guy an idiot?” It will be done. Then an NME reporter appeared and confessed, “That’s exactly the article I wrote.” “We made it possible for readers to answer (the question-style article). I believe 250,000 people answered “yes.” Incidentally, sales at the time were about that amount,” he says. It is well known that he was criticized many times by the media, but it is very interesting to hear the testimony of the person who was the one who was criticizing him. If possible, I would have liked the reporter who reviewed it to say, “If this band sells, I’ll eat my hat.” And the masterpiece came after it achieved great success. Noting that “We Are The Champions” is being used at sporting events and political campaigns around the world, this NME reporter self-deprecatingly murmurs, “I can’t believe Freddie is going to be at the top of the crowd.” If the media is naked, so is the band. As he climbs up the ladder of success, rock’s usual riotous antics also appear. In the scene where Brian says, “It’s a pastime that wouldn’t be possible in this day and age. It’s a fun memory I’ll never forget,” and Roger looks back, “Those 20 years of depravity…” what is shown is a topless woman wrestling in the mud. The nipples are completely exposed, and I can’t help but say to Brian, “Isn’t this a video that can’t be broadcast now?” The comment, “Before AIDS was discovered, I was on the loose. I was free to indulge in pleasure without any worries,” which really resonates with me. Furthermore, the story turns to the twists and turns that QUEEN took. Bob Harris said, “In 1976 and 1977, a series of bands suddenly fell into disrepair. But they somehow survived, rather than “somehow,” or rather “in fine fashion,” with “A Way to Hell” reaching No. 1 in the United States. Roger said, “I was so excited that I just thought, “That’s cool.”” What flows there is “Body Language”…. Then, when Brian said, “Freddy was suddenly rejected in the western United States, wondering if he was gay. That accelerated his decline in popularity,” and Roger said, “We were tweeting. When it loses popularity in one country (the United States), it gains popularity in another country (South America),” he replied, moving on to “ROCK IN RIO.” Although the length may be short, the editing of this work is extremely fast, and the exchange of comments feels like a conversation. It’s not just a packed show, it’s a clever show that even has humor in it. And that “LIVE AID”. Bob Geldof marveled, “It was as if it had been scripted,” and Elton John waved the white flag, “It turned out to be a divine event, as if it had been hijacked by QUEEN.” Roger and Brian also wrote words filled with their own experiences, saying, “Suddenly, the wonderful days returned,” and “Since then, my confidence has naturally returned.” In the story, the truth is told, which is a little different from the movie: “Freddy was reluctant at first.” Yes, the truth. In fact, therein lies the true value of this work. I didn’t mention it intentionally, but Mary Austin and her mother Jah Bulsara, who were important in the movie, also appear in this work and tell the truth. When I confessed my bisexuality to Mary, when we separated, when my doctor announced it, and when I confessed to the members that I wanted to end it… When did that happen and what words did it say? I won’t say exactly what month or day, but the chronology is clear and I’ll talk specifically about “Freddie said this.” The “true story” that is different from the dramatic Hollywood movies will be revealed. Please check out this work to find out the truth. There are many well-known stories, but reading about them in online articles and hearing them from the people themselves are completely different. Brian’s cloudy expression says, “That just came to mind,” and Roger’s determined eyes say, “It’s clear that his death is near,” but he looks back on the days of making “INNUENDO” as “wonderful.” It’s been eight years since Freddie’s death, so he’s calm, and since “+Rogers” didn’t even exist yet, people say, “I don’t want him to team up with a famous singer.” The feelings for Freddie are still relevant to the present, but the words are more frank and revealing. A very vivid history made 20 years ago, filled with realistic comments from the members and those involved (including Mary Austin). program. This is great. The bilingual subtitles are also nice and concise. Recommended. Broadcast Date: 5th May 2000 in Japan 1. Introduction 2. Early Days to Bohemian Rhapsody 3. Somebody To Love to We Are The Champions 4.
