Description

“THE GAME TOUR” was at its peak, with both the album and singles reaching number one in the US. This is a treasured live set that compiles three full highlights of the tour. This work includes the performances at Madison Square Garden (MSG) on September 28, 29, and 30, 1980. “THE GAME” was a huge success, especially in North America, but only two cities had more than three gigs in the North American leg at this time. They were Inglewood and New York. This work is an audience set that contains the entire 3DAYS at the famous New York venue. The official work “QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL” has also been unearthed from this tour, so let’s check the position of the show with that in mind. [1980] June 30-July 14: North America #1 (14 shows) August 5-September 30: North America #2 (35 shows) ←★Here★ November 23-December 18: Europe (17 shows) ←※Official [1981] February 12-19: Japan (6 shows) February 28-March 21: Latin America #1 (7 shows) September 25-October 18: Latin America #2 (6 shows) November 24+25: North America #3 (2 shows) A total of 84 shows. The official album “QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL” was the first 2-3 shows of “Europe”, but this MSG show was just before that. It was the final 3 days of “North America #2”. This work contains two discs of the three shows. Initially, it was scheduled for four consecutive days until “October 1st”, but the last day was canceled, and everything was recorded in three days. Only the first day’s “Dragon Attack” was missed, but the rest is a big 6-disc set with a complete recording. The existence of recordings for these three days had been known for some time. However, it was only distributed among core traders. It was a collection that had not appeared on the table. This work is the first title to make such a treasured master into a CD. The sound is a wonderful vintage audience that is mysteriously kept secret. It is not the type that makes a fuss about “it’s like a sound board”, but it is more than powerful considering the early 1980s. What is particularly wonderful is the direct feeling. Despite the huge venue of MSG, there is almost no distance between the performance and the singing voice. If you listen carefully, the venue acoustics are absorbed, but it is also very clear without hiding the details of the musical sounds. The loud cheers are far away, and the powerful musical sounds are approaching in front of you. To be honest, the sound is so powerful that it tends to over-peak, but even so, the performance is filled up to the point that it is comparable to a line recording. Perhaps the reason it has been kept secret until now is “pitch”. In fact, the master obtained this time was out of pitch for all three days, and at its worst, it was off by 30%. Of course, in this work, all performances and all songs are adjusted just right. As a result, the true form that even the core traders did not notice appeared. The true form is a tremendous performance filled with confidence and joy that finally conquered the United States. Freddie is particularly wonderful. Although he shows different expressions on each of the three days, he is in top form and his voice grows comfortably, and he controls about 20,000 people freely with his wonderful singing voice. On top of that, the set is also delicious. As mentioned above, it is a show just before “QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL”, but the legs are different and the set is changed. You can also listen to “Mustapha”, “Death On Two Legs”, and “You’re My Best Friend”, which are not official. In particular, “You’re My Best Friend” was the last performance on these three days. There were also plenty of early ’80s numbers such as “I’m In Love With My Car,” “Play The Game,” “Save Me,” and “Fat Bottomed Girls,” which were only available on this tour. In any case, the atmosphere of the moment when they conquered the United States. QUEEN completely took North America, where many British bands had challenged and lost, and they could command the large audience at the iconic venue at will. Freddie has always been a shining star, but I can’t remember him being so confident anywhere else. This live set conveys the “glow of great success” with a powerful sound. A unique moment at the top of the glorious history of QUEEN. This is a masterpiece among masterpieces that allows you to fully enjoy the scene for three performances.
