Description
“WEMBLEY STADIUM 1986” released in 2012. The 1986 Wembley Stadium 2 Days, familiar with the official pro shots and sound board, is now an audience recording… It is a title that made enthusiasts all over the world say that everyone would have been so high. In addition, both have the best sound quality. The release of the shocking sound source that literally documented the other side of Wembley Stadium was well-received, and it was sold out at a speed that exceeded even our expectations. Even in concerts where there are official and fulfilling items, if it is an audience recording with outstanding sound quality, the value as a document will not fade. It is no exaggeration to say that it raised such a problem. The Magic Tour, which became the last shining days in Queen’s live history. Among them, the most glorious stage is Wembley 2 Days. A year ago, the band was even thinking of breaking up, but it was Live Aid, where they were revived in just one day, and in less than 30 minutes. After the raging revival that began from there, it was these two days that they returned to Wembley in triumph. However, in 1986, it was only one of Queen’s latest tours, and it was thought that a new tour would be held someday, so the position of the Magic Tour became very important due to Freddie’s death. Although the group had been in existence for five years since then, it was never expected that it would be the last live tour. As a result, the two days at Knebworth and Wembley were promoted to be treated as particularly important stages of the Magic Tour. So, the official series of Wembley Stadium items were upgraded over time. In particular, in 2011, an item that could be called the definitive edition was released, and with that alone, the legendary Wembley show was enough…Everyone thought so, but suddenly “WEMBLEY STADIUM 1986” appeared. This item shocked enthusiasts all over the world in every sense, but it stands out from the audience recording on July 11th. As you can see from that video, the live performance was held in the pouring rain (it was a blessing in disguise that it didn’t become a heavy rain), so the act of recording the audience itself is courageous (laughs). In that situation, they captured the sound quality to this extent… The sound quality is magnificent, comparable to the best audiences of the magic tours such as Berlin, Vienna and Knebworth that we have released so far. It captures both the enthusiasm of the audience and the dynamism of the performance in an ideal balance, and the degree of on of the sound image is also impeccable. And above all, the taste of the hot atmosphere of Wembley on July 11, 1986 is exceptional. Of course, the clarity of the performance is the overwhelming victory of the official, but the sound and atmosphere of the place that the spectators who were actually at the stadium heard can only be experienced with this sound source. That’s why you can feel the real presence. The fun of the call-and-response in “Another One Bites The Dust”, and the audience’s reaction to Freddie’s subsequent statement “There are a lot of rumors flying around, but Queen won’t break up” are recorded without blocking the sound from the stage, with amazing clarity. Let’s say that this is the true essence of audience recording. Moreover, with the appearance of this sound source, the ending of “Guitar Solo” was shortened, and even the mistake in “Love Of My Life” was corrected, and it was revealed that some work had been done in the scenes involving Brian, which was a fact that could be proven only because it was a document of the audience recording as it was. On the other hand, the astonishing quality of the July 12th performance caused a big stir when “WEMBLEY STADIUM 1986” was released. This is already a tremendous soundboard. At that time, the staff in the mixing area set up a microphone and recorded it, so much so that there was speculation that this was an audience recording of exceptional quality. The sound image is so on and realistic that if you play it at a high volume from the speakers, you will be fooled into thinking it is a PA-out sound board. However, it is completely different from the official organized balance, and it is still a superb recording that allows you to enjoy the familiar second day of Wembley from a different angle. At the time of its release in 2012, the shocking fact that the official sound source had not been touched on the second day was revealed. It was inevitable that Freddie’s condition would be better on the previous day (especially “Bohemian Rhapsody”), but it was proven that the band itself was playing a more perfect performance than the previous day. In addition to this shock, the sound quality that seems to have taken the best of the audience and the sound board will be undoubtedly enjoyable and fresh even after seeing the official. And for this reissue, the missing parts of the official sound board were equalized on both days and adjusted without any discomfort. In particular, due to the reality of tape changes, cuts were made on both days at the end of the “Impromptu” part and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love”, but strangely enough, Freddie’s song is not included, so there is no sense of incongruity in the hybrid state of the audience and the sound board. There, too, the outstanding quality of the audience recording this time can be felt, and at the same time, the vividness of the tape change timing, as if you knew the development of the live performance, is also astonishing. After being sold out since its release in 2012, Another Side of Wembley has received many requests from enthusiasts for a re-release. There is no better timing for its revival than 2016, the 30th anniversary of the Magic Tour!
