Description

QUEEN and South America met for the first time at the “Buenos Aires performance on February 28, 1981.” The first complete soundboard album containing the entire story is now available. Speaking of South America, it is a pro-QUEEN region along with Japan. However, they first visited South America relatively late, not until 1981, when they reached number one in the United States. The tour, which attracted hundreds of thousands of people for all seven performances, was enthusiastic, and it seems to have left an impact on them comparable to their legendary first visit to Japan. This week, the ultra-excellent soundboard “DEFINITIVE SAO PAULO 1981 PRE-FM MASTER” that recorded such a South American tour was also released at the same time, and the whole picture of the world tour was introduced in the commentary there. Here, let’s check the show position on the dates narrowed down to the South American tour.・February 28: Buenos Aires ←★This work★ ・March 1: Buenos Aires ・March 4: Mar del Plata ・March 6: Rosario ・March 8: Buenos Aires ・March 20 DEFINITIVE SAO PAULO 1981 PRE-FM MASTER” March 21st: Sao Paulo – Six months later – September 25th-27th: Caracas (3 performances) October 9th: Monterrey October 17th + 18th: Puebla (2 performances) This is QUEEN’s first South American tour “GLUTTONS FOR PUNISHMENT TOUR”. The first 7 performances were held in early spring, followed by the production of the single “Under Pressure” with David Bowie and off-season work. A second round of six performances was held six months later. The Buenos Aires performance of this work was the first day’s concert where they met for the first time. On this day, the FM broadcast soundboard has been known for a long time, and the highest-quality album “DEFINITIVE BUENOS AIRES 1981 1ST NIGHT” is very popular at our store. This work is not the latest version… The previous releases were FM broadcasts, but this work is a sound board for AM broadcast “RADIO RIVADAVIA” which is different from that. The biggest point of this work is that it is completely recorded for the first time in history. The presence or absence of “Now I’m Here (Reprise)” has been a topic of discussion, but the AM version is far from that, and “Get Down, Make Love” and “God Save The Queen” was also broadcast. This work is the first complete album based on such an AM broadcast version sound board (on the contrary, the AM broadcast had cuts in the middle of “Rock It (Prime Jive)” and Brian’s guitar solo, but in this work, the FM (Supplemented by broadcast). Speaking of the symbolic live album of 1981, the official work “QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL” is famous, so let’s compare it here and see the power of the complete recording.・Dread Princess: Keep Yourself Alive ・Sheer Heart Attack: Killer Queen/Now I’m Here ・A Night at the Opera: Death On Two Legs (★)/I’m In Love With My Car/Love Of My Life / Bohemian Rhapsody・Splendid Race: Tie Your Mother Down・Dedicated to the World: We Will Rock You (2 takes)/Get Down Make Love/Sheer Heart Attack/We Are The Champions・Jazz: Let Me Entertain You/Mustapha (★ )・The Game: Play The Game/Need Your Loving Tonight (★)/Rock It (Prime Jive) (★)/Save Me/Dragon Attack/Crazy Little Thing Called Love/Another One Bites The Dust・Flash Gordon: Flash/The Hero *Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on “QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL (live album version)”. …and it looks like this. In fact, the AM version is a monaural broadcast that is different from the FM version, and the quality is slightly rounder. For that reason, the permanent preservation press was postponed, but the listening experience of the complete version is still wonderful. This show was the first time they met in South America, so the four of them were surprised by the warm welcome and were excited. Freddy in particular is excited about South America even though he is trying to figure it out. From the very beginning, they chanted “Get down! Borabien!”, and when they sang “Love Of My Life”, they couldn’t hide their excitement as they chanted “Fantastico!” and “Gracious!”. “Get Down, Make Love” appears for the first time in this flow. It’s truly wonderful to see a strong singing voice in top condition penetrating the groovy sound space. There were times when a Portuguese DJ would provide live commentary on the members’ situations that could not be conveyed through sound alone, but it also gave me a South American feel as I experienced QUEEN for the first time. “God Save The Queen”, which concludes such a high-tension performance, also appears for the first time. In the FM broadcast, the last of “We Are The Champions” ended with a fade-out, but in this work you can enjoy a solid and glorious aftertaste. Freddie shouts out his gratitude, “Adios! Amigos!” and the Portuguese DJ is even more excited as he reports excitedly. Normally, DJs are just annoying, but this work is where QUEEN and South America first met. Not only were the four of them excited about their first time playing in South America, but the South Americans were also shocked by their first experience with QUEEN. You can feel the realism of that history vividly. QUEEN has only visited South America twice, in 1981 and in 1985 for ROCK IN RIO. In particular, Argentina was all about the 5 performances in 1981. Even though I loved QUEEN passionately, there were too few shows in South America. This is a new excavation of sound board recording that allows you to fully experience that night of first meeting. This is a song that will give you more emotion than just “I’ve got more songs that I couldn’t listen to before”. A soundboard album has been released where you can experience QUEEN’s first South American performance. This is a long AM broadcast version that is different from the standard FM broadcast, and is a complete soundboard that complements “Rock It (Prime Jive)” and guitar solo with FM broadcast.
